Project Geosynchronous Orbit

Awesome!

The proportions make it look funky .... huge tires, stubby little truck, small lift .... it looks like Colin barely fits in there.

CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT IN A FEW WEEKS!!!!

have you tested any sky driving abilities?

Nice, im glad you made it out today! Hope everything went good

Thanks T-pain.

Everything went as well as I could have hoped for.

The only things that happened were:
- Transmission leaks BAD. Already knew this though. First gear is also grinding. Also knew this
- PS reservoir vent popped off
- Fitting plug popped off intake
- Forgot to tighten a LCA bolt
- Shock mount nut loosened up up front

Other than that, I managed to hit about 3k rpms in 4th gear low range bombing down an access road :D.

I'm ordering a traction bar kit from Ruffstuff as I type.

Yup, I actually have more room in there than I did in my XJ due to the raised roofline.

I can't wait to see yours too!

You will never love/hate anything more than Line Mountain. :D

Congrats on getting it going...cage that bitch so I can nerf your ass in a few months. :)

I already told Bill I'm going to get together all the steel I need to build the bender when I get back from NACfest.

Then cage it in a month.

Then kiss your sorry ass goodbye. :D

have you tested any sky driving abilities?

Nah, not without a cage. Too much time/money invested.

looks like a matchbox car

Agreed.

:D

Proof that it actually went out

Too bad Ross didn't get the rev limiter action from both rigs.

In the 1st video of Colin you can hear the leaf springs slapping. Good thing you ordered the parts.

Hah all I hear is "tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime for that traction bar"!

Good to see the rig out in the woods Colin!! I heard that spring slap in the vid also. Yeah, I remember early on saying something about you may need a traction bar. Those MJ leafs are loose/flexy. I was at RC last weekend with the XJ and had a few folks watch me make some climbs looking for axle wrap, and the traction bar seems to be working really well for me. Hopefully that will do the trick for you too.

Ah, OK. Another set of MJ leafs is perfect. You should be OK without a trackbar using those additional leafs, although the packs WILL be a little stiff with no weight back there. Fuel cell in the bed? Carrying a spare/tools? That may be enough for them to not be too stiff. Once you get it together it will be test/tune time. How much weight do you think you removed from the rear with the bob?

I have not seen many MJ main leafs break, but I have seen the front and back parts of the mains (near the eye) wrap or bend. On the factory leafs there is a lot of space between the eyes and the next smaller leaf. Mine have wrapped a little bit, and my MJ hasn't really been used very hard off-road.

Another recommendation I would make is to drill out the center pins to 7/16's and use a socket head bolt instead (if you haven't already).

Can't wait to see this thing work, its looking good!!

Gee andy make up your mind

Read that post I made... carefully this time... I was assuming he was going to combine another set of MJ leaves into those packs. He didn't do that, he just has the factory springs w/overload (according to the pic on page 48 or 49.. I forget which now). Now go get back in your corner ya goontard.

 Yeah I kinda figured I was gonna need one. When I did a poser flex in my driveway the rear leaves seemed kind of soft even with 6 of them in there.

 Ross is LOUD.

Looks like there's some positive camber goin' on?

Possibly, but in person it doesn't seem like much if any. That tire leaks air still so it starts to lean.

Yeah I'm going to redrill the anti-walking plates or whatever you call them that I extended so that the springs can't clap around, and I have traction bar stuff on order.

Nope, I have main / main / 2nd / 2nd / 3rd / overload. Combined two packes together.

Still soft with tons/40s

This is such a cool MJ. You've done an amazing job on it.

1. Colin is impatient when it comes to videos
2. Don't hate on the valve tick (it never did anything to you!)
