Project: Freak of Nature

I ran the Novak direct shifter or whatever it's called (non-cable) in the baby jeep. I really liked it.

I just bought this, it looks nice, I think it was $45 + $8 shipping.

I'll let you know how it works.

I also have the Novak cable shifter. Works great. I was having issues where no matter how hard I tired I couldn't get in in gear. Then sometime it would jump out. The Novak works so well that when I 1st put it in I thought I screw up and it wasn't shifting at all because it was so easy. Turns out it was installed correctly and it's just that much smoother than stock.

Well am finally getting ready to start tearing jeep down so went ahead and stripped down the 9" today to get it ready.

Was surprised to see a little rust on inside of axle. Gonna try and scrap it clean and see what happens.

Also, I know there are like 3 different sized bearings for this axle. Can anyone tell me how to figure out which one I have. Is it just the width of the carrier bearings?

Well guess there is no turning back now. Pulled the axles out this weekend and they are already sold. Now to go buy parts to get new axles put in so we can get back out on the trail.

That's what I told the wife earlier today. She just laughed.

Hoping to sell off some other items we no longer need around house to help put hydro assist and a cage on the jeep as well. First thing is getting it moving before snow comes.

Gonna be running locked front with hydro assist on this jeep. You all recommend I go with ¾ or ⅞ size heims for my steering? I would think ¾ would be big enough but part of me says to go with ⅞.

3/4" rod ends will be big enough for your steering.

Ok. Might look into one of the steering kits from Barnes or ruffstuff. Figure that will be easiest way to do steering

So are you using the ⅝ for your tie rod and the ¾ and misalignments for your drag link?
