Project "Constructive Deconstruction"

Re: Project "I change my mind more than a girl"

sooooo.....

check the classifieds, i think im trying to sell the 30 stuff. willing to pay someone to take it off of my hands. building front and rear 14bolts, adding rear steer. going to replace my drive shafts with augers, so they pull me over rocks, cause im going back to 31s. adding more lift... starting my own trend, reverse COG.

:gee:

for $100, considering i have 1 smashed light, and 1 cracked... it couldnt go wrong with plug and play boxes. just needs a fresh coat.

after this weekend, all i should need is a set of long arms, *cough*cough*hurrytheF'upjohn*cough*, and i should be set for a long time.

oh! how about, "project: i change girls more than my mind."

to all of those who say you dont have to take the ring gear off to install an aussie. i did. cross shaft wouldnt fit either way. 3.55 gears. but... buttoned up and installed.

the install was cake. i honestly just skimmed they manual looking for tolerances. the pinion in the new axle is superb compared to the last one. again, install was simple, and it seems to work properly. i still dont have my drive shaft in... after how long this day was, ill wait and play with it tomorrow (later today). the story of why progress was so slow is probably best told over a beer.

i also have a few things to button up, mainly alignment.

Re: Project "I change my mind more than a girl"

I think everyone has to take the ring gear off the 30 to do the Aussie. After doing mine the second time, I don't know how you can't get the crossbar in. Maybe the 2 little guys inside the halves weren't separated correctly?

Re: Project "I change my mind more than a girl"

I don't remember seeing before, what gears are you running? Thick ring gear'll do it.

Re: Project "I change my mind more than a girl"

You do know that you can notch the teeth a little to clear the pin, right?

Rev

Thought about it but why do that when you can just pull the ring gear? Seems better then busting out the grinder.

I had to notch 2 teeth on my rear 4:56s to get the cross pin in, but pulling the ring gear isn't an option on a c clip axle.
