Uh, well, we have a supporting vendor in our own chapter who makes a similar product. Pretty sure those aren't his and it brings a little disappointment. But hey, each to his own.

i guess brian and HD Offroad arent supporting vendors? :dunno:

could have swore he was... :eyes:

install was easy. when i dropped the springs, i actually put them in place and it was a tight fit, they didnt just slide right in. tried prying on the shackle mount but didnt want to get crazy with it. so i jacked up the diff and used the end of the leaf to put pressure on the brackets. a couple simple taps with a hammer and they slid right into place. lol, genius! my only gripes werent due to the design, but rather my existing hardware. the nut strip i have wasnt long enough to mount the brackets (put them right against the frame), the hitch, and the 1 nut for the exhaust hanger. the stock tail pipe also angles to the outside a little after the hanger. so the leaf spring bolt contacts the exhaust upon compression. when i go home, 5 minutes with a piece of pipe and the torch and itll be fixed.

i really need to sleave the frame rail and make my own nut strip that is tied into the bumper. then i can eliminate my hitch as well. for now, ill let it self clearance the exhaust. im not worried about heat. my bushings are already shot.

Brian and HD Offroad are supporting NAXJA vendors...

mac 'insert foot in mouth' gyvr

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

I stand corrected. I know Brian is a supporting vendor. They just didn't look like his brackets. Sorry, Walt. I guess it's just that I've got the first run model and don't quite recognize the newer ones yet.

brians were some of the first ones i saw on the market. and i was sold after seeing that they tie into the nut strip, most ive seen dont. couple that with the fact that it is a local chapter member... there was no other choice. fast shipping. beefy product. even talked to him a little through PMs the morning before i ordered, answered all my questions. would deffinantly buy from HD offroad again.

now... rough country on the other hand. lol. i called to order some spacers for my moabs. i wanted to know why their spacers were so much cheaper than everyone elses. i guess they order, litterally, by the truck... so the bulk price they get and amount they have on hand dwarfs most other sites. but, i also wanted to see if they would do a NAXJA or military discount. they did... would have been like, $110 shipped for 4 spacers. but my card wouldnt process. their system kept saying it was over its limit, while im staring at my computer which says ive got plenty of funds. i tell the guy, "alright man. its really not your fault. ill just try to order online and if i have any issues ill just call the bank company. its out of your hands." online order went smooth as silk. but had to spend $20 extra dollars. :twak:

i will say, i like having this whole paypal account thing for ordering stuff!

going red is the best thing ive done!

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

sunday, sunday, SUNDAY!

google says the moabs are 5" of backspacing. most spacers are 1.25", these (from RC) are 1.5" thatll put me at 3.5". should be plenty of room.

no complaints about RC except for the one above. shipping was retarded fast. i never got a shipping confirmation number, but a quick call yesterday morning and the guy i got on the phone said they would be there that day. he did not lie. when i woke up (i work nights) they were sitting on the door step. might install them today if i get bored. i sliced my arm open pretty good last night at work, 5 stitches. got to keep it clean and dry... kind of hard to do when working on a CNC machine with cast metals. cast = dirty. and drilling = coolant. guess i wont be doing much today.

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

picked up some used STTs today. 285/75R16, measure out to about 33x11.50. price was right... so i jumped on it.

not all of my MTRs looked this bad, lol:

jeep is looking right now

no one runs white walls anymore, so i said run'em. lol.

slapped on the spacers and ran almost 200 miles. my old tires had never been balanced since the TJ they came on came off the line. they were also load range E, and i had lost most of the weights due to rocks. running these down the road was pure pleasure. SO MUCH NICER.

super happy, super stoked.

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

wow. looks real good!
thanks.

side note:
the picture looks like my shackles are wicked compressed, but its a little bit of an illusion with the exhaust pipe behind it. when we put the jeep on the lift to pick it up, i finally got to see what kind of droop the shackle relocation gave me. pretty legit. it maxed out my shocks. lol. luckily the slip shaft on my rear driveline as just fine.

:)

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

got a little bored this weekend....

wanted to work on the jeep, but didnt feel like repairing and tearing into the suspension. i havent had fog lights in a while... so i wired some aux driving lights into my existing fog light switch.
