Little muddy...

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

things i learned:
- pete (whitexj98) is pretty handy with a high lift.
- i need to replace my E-fan.
- gears and lockers just became priority.
- this no start issue i have when the jeep gets hot needs to be fixed.
add "raise rear shock mounts" to that list.

Did you have to get pulled to the parking lot again?
i dont recall having to get pulled to the lot. just to flat ground. :bawl:

i always happens when hot... and i can push start it just fine. specifically it happens when wheeling. i would guess the clutch is generating more heat in these situations. or at least it did yesterday. but when cranking hot, it had no spark. its not throwing a CEL, but pete had a scan tool on hand and it seems to be the CPS. i replaced it today.

im sure my cap, rotor, wires, and plugs all could use replacing.

that's what she said
poor girl.

Why fix it now? The exact same thing happened the first time we went there together three years ago :twak:

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

i think that was a combination of battery and alternator as well... remember it not having enough power to even crank after a couple tries? probably not, your getting old. i also had the E-fan then too, it was much cooler. i really wont know if this is the issue until i dog it again.

i got 2 out of 3. :dunce:

the entrance to python now has a bit of a "gatekeeper" looked like i could make it, but don said a few people spent 4 hours back there saturday. spooked me a little.

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

got the ZJ tie rod in today. drive way alignment done.

does really good up to 70, thats the fastest ive had it. didnt want to risk any deer popping out. so i think i got it close. lol. ill keep an eye on the tires to see if they are wearing funky. i also didnt like the new adjusting sleeve i bought, so i took a paint pen and marked it in relation to the new tie rod and tie rod end just to keep an eye on it. it feels good though. they stocker i can bend by hand. when it is in place. im sure they bigger tires flex it on the road, giving it some bad handling. it seems much more solid. but that could just be the butt dyno talking.

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

Aussie makes for good fun! Mine got me into trouble immediately. Ask Aaron...He wouldn't follow. It was the wiser choice.

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

local JYs have complete 30s for arond $125-$150ish. local shop wanted around $550 to fix my 30, assuming i didnt need a new gear set. throw in another $250 for an aussie, im looking at over $800.

if i can find one in solid shape, ill have spare shafts. just got to find the time. i hate working nights.

im at $500ish invested now. the remaining money from the same $800 budget should be plenty to get me a new 30, fluids, and other odds and ends for the install. but in the process ive gained diff covers, reusable gaskets, and spare shafts... i should be able to warranty out my parts and rebuild any axle i get. guess i just need to get motivated.

labor day weekend, here we come!

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

i dont need help inserting my tube... thanks though.

aussie for now. maybe mini skids again and box the passenger upper if i can find some plate laying around. not trying to go too crazy. ive still got long arms to buy.

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

well, the dana 30 stuff northridge had in stock. that shipping out asap.

the rear riddler cover is drop shipping from the company, but lubelocker does not drop ship, so i had them remove the gasket. the rear diff only needs to go on once for now anyway, but ill see if i can find one locally. at least the 30 stuff is out the door.
