Press corps stands for Obama but not Bush?

Why does this surprise people, most leftest or liberal leaning people that graduated from college tend to go into what I call the 'soft' careers, media, teaching, head doctors, etc, the Educated or 'enlightened' class. The same as most gays tended to go into the priesthood/ministry and teaching back when there was a draft. Why should it be any surprise that those same 'enlightened' people now run the media and steer it in that direction.
Don't get me wrong, W turned into an asshat of the first water his second term, actually when he shoved us into Iraq, but pushing the Patriot act through was the first real indication only the public was too stupid to realize it.

So if a education generally makes you more successful (income-wise), generally makes you a more intelligent and well rounded individual, AND it makes you lean to the more liberal side of the political spectrum...what does that say about Republicans?

Mind you, I'm a Democrat, but in the Army, so I don't exactly fit neatly into this grouping.

"Most leftist or liberal leaning people that graduated from college" is a rather different statement from, "Most people that graduated from college are leftist or liberal leaning." As I'm sure you know, there's as many libs graduating from college as there are conservatives, fairly equal numbers living in slums, ghettos, and trailer parks as well.

My experience in college was a little different. I found that most didn't give a crap and when they did, they didn't vote. I don't see that trend dramatically changing when I got to college. And frankly, if you don't exercise your right to vote, any opinion you might have doesn't matter. But out of those that did vote, I would say about 2/3 voted Democratic. As they got older I see that trend leveling out to about 50/50.

Actually I worded that badly, most of the people who go into what I call the soft influencing careers tend be leftists, it's a byproduct of the professors who teach the curriculum and influence those students. I've met a most of my sons and daughters professors, she's headed for a teaching degree, he graduates this dec with bio engineering and enviro science degrees.
Her profs, not a single vet in the bunch and that was at two schools, Temple and now ESU, his, 2/3's are vets from vietnam, DS and one that did two tours in Afghanistan.
He voted republican and libertarian, she voted for the first time and voted straight dem, party tick, single lever, Boy I sure would like to see that single lever removed and the candidates party affiliation REMOVED from the machine and mixed up, we ended up re-electing a scumbag congressman who rode in on the coat tails of obama from the students who voted straight ticket, single lever.

Yeah, many universities are just indoctrination camps. Get 'em while they're young and impressionable and fill their heads with lies. So much for presenting unbiased points of view and expanding the mind.

Personally, I think that the more you understand about politics and the long term issues facing the US, the more liberal you are.

Is that why the majority of people tend to get more conservative as we get older?

Got facts?

And how does age equate to political knowledge?

Dunno, that does a pretty good job of showing the age factor....

On a slightly different note, could you imagine the outrage if 95% of whites had voted for McCain? Uncle Jesse and Uncle Al would be barking outside the Supreme Court calling for election results to be thrown out....

EDIT:

Here's another one:

My favorite is the "not high school graduate" results

:D

As for this - maybe as you get older, you realize you're allowed to think for yourself and you stop believing all the bullshit you're fed...

My favorite is from the NYT "college graduate" poll. So the more educated and the less educated you are the more likely you are to vote Democratic. Hmm...

And a avg of a 3% shift by age group past 29 hardly denotes a significant trend.

Conversely, the older you are the less likely you are to want things to change. i.e. "Stuck in your ways." Failure to adapt to a changing world results in extinction. At least, that's what Darwin would say.

Ah yes, the whole "college degree automatically means you are intelligent" arguement arises again.

You should know better than that....how many dumbass officers have you had to deal with in your career? They are some of the worst - think that their degree gives them automatic credibility and insight into things that the Enlisted could never understand! LOL :D

As for being stuck in your ways - if it ain't broke, don't fix it - what my pappy always said. Problem is, Liberals want to change shit regardless of if it needs fixed or not. They have to make a name for themselves, show they are "making progress" - too often though, they just create problems that never existed, and then they magically think of the solution! Talk about job security....
