Parking boot

there's a guy in England who goes around cutting boots off at random. Really pissed the bobbies off because the people affected have no clue they've ever been booted

That's Classic!

Wouldn't be in Nottingham would it? A modern day Robin Hood?

It would be better and much cheaper to not get thickets .

i would cut it off and then take it into the police dept. to pay the fines. when they ask why i cut it up i'd say "well how was i supposed to get down here?"

:D

 Haha...I like it!

You guys are making this way too hard. Just left the air out of your tire and drive off. This method should work especially well for larger tires, and eveyone has OBA, right. Shopuld only take a matter of a couple minutes and it wont damage the boot.

From an article I found. Someone needs to give this a try.

"Removing the boot without tools or damage is actually a very simple matter. Simply let out about half of the air from the "booted" tired. Once you let the air out the prong that holds the boot in place can be slid past the tire, exposing the hubcap. I had initially intended to change the tire but I found that after sliding the clamp off the front of the tire the rest of the boot was only hooked into the wheel from the rear. I got behind the wheel of the car, started it and drove it a few inches forward and the torque of the wheel immediately popped the boot completely off."

What's the real point of boots anymore when they can just issue you a ticket and have it on the computer network so you can't really get away without paying?

Theres a show about a city parking authority on Discovery or something. They boot cars that are scheduled for towing. They drive around looking for violators, if they find they have unpayed tickets, they boot the car until the tow truck can get there. If you can get the tickets paid before the truck arrives, they will come back and remove the boot.

They can also keep ticketing you as many times as legally possible while you're booted. So if you're booted infront of a fire hydrant, for example they'll keep nailing you with $100 tickets every few hours until you pay the ever increasing fines

They boot you, then keep ticketing you for not moving? That's screwed up.

Wow, I read through most of that (because I dont have a life). I wish "dollyman" was easier to follow.
I think he shouldve just removed the boots and dropped them in the street then moved his Audi into the garage. The whole thing wouldve been over although I guess its good he stood up to the man.

Let's hear it for Dolly Man!!!

Nice link there OverlandXJ, made for good reading...

I can't help but remember the episode of The Simposns when Barney is the designated driver (and Duff Man appears at Moe's Tavern). Barney ends up parking Homers car in New York...the car gets booted...Homer eventually gets the boot off after royaly jacking up his ride...

If you have noticed fox 26 hasn't played that episode since 9/11

Alos at the high school I went to they got boots for parking tickets, but they weren't the fancy ones like on the hummer they were little cheap ones that didn't even cover the lug nuts so you could just put your spare on and go home or like I did one time take it off and carry the tire to the office and tell them to take them off and they would. Those cheap one's wouldn't fit on anything over 33's or if they were more than 12" wide or if you had low profile tires

They also have this thing called the internet...

I was in the college parking office one time when this big dude carried one in, it wasn't damaged....he set it on their counter and said "hey, you guys left this on my car and it really kinda pissed me off" then walked out haha!!
