Chicago has big boots for trucks and small boots for cars. The Dept. of revenue vans drive around with Automated license plate readers on them, when they get a hit, they jump out and install a boot. All the boots have serial numbers, so if you damage it or otherwise remove it, they will just add the cost of the boot to your tab. And yes, if you don't come up with the $$$ they will tow it.
