Operation Overcompensation

Looks good Avery... I am glad this thread is still out there... It tells me what not to do... Why not just build a complete new tube chassis and ditch the old unibody alltogether.. Soooo Much change... makes me dizzy looking at it... but all together real nice fab and welding by Troy...

Well, a couple of reasons. I really like the XJ, the club, and overall vehicle. To build a tube chassis is actually more work when starting from scratch. One may spend 10 hours hanging just pedals on a buggy never mind doing electrical, firewall, etc.

With the route I have chosen I can make a change, and go immediately test it. Most importantly I also get to wheel more often. A buggy would mean a lot of down time and I am the type that needs a contstant treminder as to why I do this and spend all that $$$.

I am also lucky in a sense that there are others here that have chosen the same path and I/we can learn from our experiences.

Because then it would no longer be a stolen XJ.

You really like the XJ? Then why did you get rid of it? :D

"I really like the XJ, but those damned buggies keep running over my ego! I must overcompensate so I can show them how big I am!"

When all is said and done, I am going to have fun beating on this rig!Hasta

Doh you never let on to this portion did ya?

3 link = 2 trailing arms and a track bar? or 2 lowers and a upper or?

Looks great!

You only count the links that run fore and aft, leading or trailing arms, not the panhard bar that runs across.

Troy, that's really nice work. I sure hope you have an agreement that you get to beat on it plenty........ :D

Thats the norm is does seem on these boards, but Jeep calls the the axle a live 5 link I though. So that would mean 4 + panhard/track bar?
