No it’s not finished, 87 XJ 4.6 stroker, PSD D60 and 10.5

relocate the PS res.

Definitely not now. lol
I don't want to sacrifice volume/flow.

I don't see how relocating it somewhere else under the hood would do that? what am I missing? Its an external reservoir right?

wow I had no idea. very good information. thanks for that. Well keep it right there and make a mini scoop.

You're quite welcome.

It has been quite a while since I updated this. Finally she’s drivable and back on the road.
I guess I’ll start with the hole.
I cut the top 5” of the stock tank skid off and welded some flatbar to the sides to bolt through. The bottom of the skid is now flush with the frame.

The stroker is in, sexy and runs amazingly well.

I cut the crap out of a Taurus fan shroud and relocated my radiator a little over an inch forward. While figuring out the Taurus fan I found out that many 90's Volvos has the same fan motor but a removable outer shroud which would be a far easier/better option.
Anyway I ended up with the clearance I needed with the help of button head bolts.

I got the new wheels on and last friday my rotors and pads showed up. The old ones had more rusty pitting than a glaze.

I'm still putting off converting to mig atleast for this big stuff. I have more sheet welding to do so I'll probably switch when I get to it.
Welding my dirtbound DIY extreme winch bumper. These can come pre welded but I figured it would be a fun project and one more thing I can say I did my self, in part atleast.

I ordered the hoop kit for it. Hopefully it will get here soon.
It's not as pretty as when they do it...

My super winch showed up while I was typing this. I decided to go with cable for durability's sake. After watching Cal Rocs this weekend my concerns were re-affirmed. All the synth lines there were frayed all over.

My 5.38 gears showed up friday, I plan on having them installed with my ARB and detroit this week.

Still waiting on my gear installer to get me in.

Since the taurus fan goes below the rad I was going to install my stock AUX tranny cooler behind the bumper.

I ended up in Sparks NV so I bought a larger cooler at summit.

I still have to seal off the bottom side of the taurus shroud but it's low on the priority list.

Thought I was going to do my dirtbound offroad hoop kit today. I assumed the tubing would at least come pre notched. I don't think most DIY'ers have a tubing notcher and if they do they probably have their own tubing bender...
I used a leaf brake for their bumper kit but it was possible to just hammer and weld per their instructions.
There's no mention of this requirement on their page. I'm not sure if I'll try to wing it or find one.

This and the crooked cut on the bumper kit makes me doubt I'll be making more purchases. I'll see if I took a picture of the crooked cut but it made bend off on the back which required hammer manipulation and still wouldn't sit right. The cut was probably 1/4" difference end to end.

I would contact Dirtbound, my kit came notched. Contact them asap because they are moving soon.

I sent them an email. Not sure what to expect with that. I'd prefer a clean notch. I downloaded winmiter. I think I'll try with my chop saw and clean it with a flap disk.

Then take your time and get it right... No need for an app....

It's a DIY bumper, if they did anything more for you, it would be an unbox yourself bumper.

The program is to print a template for the cut. You enter your tubing and angle.

Specifically it's a weld it yourself kit per their site. Any less and it would just be sticks of DOM.

I've seen the template generators, but they're not needed, god blessed us with eyes, brains, an angle grinders... Just sayin...

And I've ALLWAYS seen them advertise as DIY bumper kits. I heard you can get a bolt on stinger kit If you go with smittybilt, that may be more up your creek

"Just sayin" doesn't cover for subdued insults they're still insults.
As I said the entire bumper was designed to be weld only. You can download the instructions on their site. The description on the page says "weld it yourself kit". Another customer said theirs came notched.
I'm not sure what me or my abilities have to do with the product not being finished.
