SierraFest is the Sierra chapter's annual event. There are people that post up runs all the time. You get a buscard with your name and naxja member number on it, sticker, you have bragging rights about being part of the best web wheeling club. Ha.

your money that you give for membership helps keep this site going, and help keep trails open. i think thats enough right there. especially if you use to site for info ever.

For one, you get entered into the raffle for the March Membership drive.

As mentioned there are other sections of the forum you get access to.

At Sierra Fest we are looking to add benefits and discounts to red name members.

Many people feel that the advice received and knowledge gained in the technical sections of the site have been invaluable and become an official member as a way to give back and help keep the club going.

I believe some NAXJA vendors give discounts to red names.

And of course all the cool people have red names. :spin1:

My list of good reasons to join:

1) The knowledge on this board is easily worth the cost. Find the solution to your problems and don't waste money on ineffective solutions. The problem you are having is not new and someone has fixed it before. Find out how they did it and save time and money.

2) Guys like knucklehead_61 who open up their shops and help to wrench on anyone's rig. When I joined a few years ago, I asked for help and had a senior member agree to do free welding on my rig and told me the best parts to upgrade next. Even though I was not a member, his experience saved me money and got me on the right track. (Thanks Letterman!)

3) Discounts at many great vendors will save you more money than the annual membership cost.

4) Special runs for red-letter names; last years Rubicon run at Sierra Fest is a good example.

5) You get a cool NAXJA sticker for your rig which gives you instant street and trail cred.

6) NAXJA donates significant money to groups that protect the lands we wheel on and keeps them open. Last year NAXJA and the Sierra Chapter promised over $2k to groups like Friends-of-Fordyce, CORVA, and others that keep local trails open.

7) Even the runs for anyone are a good reason to sign up - last weekend we took out a group of 12 guys (most of whom were newbies) and got everyone home safe. There was some carnage (broken axle shaft, bad alternator due to mud, overheated CPS) but everyone had fun, got off the trail, and home. There is a good atmosphere in this club and everyone looks out for each other. There is always someone to go wheeling with.

8) Red letter names get access to more sections of the website.

9) You can poke jokes at guys like JoseJalapeno and srmitchell if you are a member.

10) Last but not least - I hear that we are getting JoseJalapeno bobble-head dolls for the red-letter names. (Disclaimer: this isn't true yet, but let's keep our hopes up. Send PMs to VetsXJ to make this happen.)

OK, so the last one is made up but I really wanted to get to 10.

The knowledge and techinical advice on the tech forums alone is well worth the price of admission. I can't tell youn how many times I've beat my head against the wall trying to figure out a problem fixing my junk only to find the answer to my question somewhere on here.

That statement is so true. I'm still new at this forum thing and I haven't been out to any runs yet since my heep has spent more time broken than running, but I plan to fix that and am going to make out and meet the people behind the screen names if I can figure out a way not to have to work so much!

I think all 10 are great! I really like # 9 & # 10.

This:

6) donates significant money to groups that protect the lands we wheel on and keeps them open. Last year and the Sierra Chapter promised over $2k to groups like Friends-of-Fordyce, CORVA, and others that keep local trails open.

This X 1 million

If you like wheeling it is up to you as an individual to do what you can to support groups like those mentioned above and Naxja works well as a middle man to combine your efforts with other members for the cause. Buying a membership is just one way to donate to that cause...and the effects of your membership are felt nationwide. Little things like Naxja's March membership drive go a long way to keep public lands open to the public.

What is the difference between being an NAXJA member and a Sierra Chapter member?

The rest of the Naxja members are not Sierra Chapter members?
Aside from what Naxja does, I think he was asking what goes on in the sierra chapter.

*Billy, I still haven't received my sticker!!

OK so I am a NAXJA member (red name) and I live in NoCal so that makes me a Sierra Chapter member too. It is just that easy right?

Sounds right to me! There are boundaries for each chapter, so whichever one your location happens to be within would be your chapter.

Well then Sierra Chapter is the clear leader. Let the games begin.

The last 2 years the SoCal chapter has won the member drive.. maybe more but I was not a member before that.
