new rig (Black Betty)

Looking good man!

Will it be ready for the rubicon this week?

Whats left now ? It seems like its done!

Got off work felt sick, took a nap, wrenched, time to sleep.

Got one side completely done on the rails

I would have had the belly pan done but the drill bit broke. I'll finish the other rail and make the shock tabs tomorrow. I will be cutting it close but things are looking good. I am excited to see how the rear bpe will turn out. S&k steel is cutting out the base plates and I got all the hardware.

Got the tire carrier on too. That's was easy enough

So I started making the rear bar pin elims and learned a lot so far. I started with some Ruffstuff tabs and cut them down. I had s&k steel make the base plates and I drilled the holes and counter sunk them.

The total off set is 3/4" from the mounting surface to the center of the shocks bolt. I was going to trim it down another 1/4" but checked clearances first. Turns out I just barely hit the cross member when removing the main shock bolt.

1" offset would be perfect but I don't want to give up more up travel. I thought about giving the little piece a smack to clearance it but I might be able to fit a standard bolt to mount to the body. This would allow me to tighten the bracket with the main bolt on and to loosen them a little to get the main shock bolt out.

What do you guys think?

Those shock mounts look really good. I have some 7100 coming for the rear and been watching how your mounting them.... Good luck on first run at rubicon with black betty

Thanks, I'll do a write up next week. Although I just found if I grind down the socket head bolt a little and offset the mount by 1/8" there is room to lower the tabs another 1/4". Total offset will be around 1/2" from center of shock bolt to mounting surface. Making it only a net loss of about 1/4" over a bar pin!

Belly pan, sway bars, cross member, atlas support and rock rails finished!

Just need to fix the shock issue and bolt them up. Also need an alignment and it would be nice to bolt up the gas skid

I can help you do toe in later and play with caster too

So lesson learned on the rear shocks. I worked out the clearances to make the rear shock mounts as short as possible but they are a pain the install and are not true bpe as I need to remove the bracket to get the shock out.

As of now the shocks extend about 1/2" more than the jeep at full droop. Which is perfect but I think I could get away with lengthening the brackets so the main bolt will clear the cross member but then again the rarely come off. I am going to try using a standard bolt for the shock too. The cross member also makes it impossible to get a socketed Allen in there.

Lastly the hose hits the cross member and doesn't fit. I am going to pick up some 90° fittings to help clearance them

I picked up some 90 degree fittings but didnt have time to rebuild the shocks yet. Lou stopped by before going up to the con and spent a couple hours patching things up and bolting up his old shocks on betty.

We spent 2 days on the con with little issue. I had a spring fall out, no retainer or limit strap, and it broke my pass side brake line. Luckily Jon had a spare. I rigged up some retainers that night and all was good. My check engine light came on and stayed on all weekend so i need to check that out too.

She ran great, atlas was freaking awesome and the magnaflow was perfect, good sound but so much quiter compared to the Flowmaster.

I love your rig.

I have a obd2 scanner
