new rig (Black Betty)

Looks so good man. Bring it to reno!

So Lou sent me some picks and I think I will rune my vent tube where he did. Rear driver side of the housing. I didn't notice a hole there in mine but I bought a drill and tap if it need a hole. Haha.

Got a plug for the old hole. Not sure if it is NPT or BSTP.

For 1/8 pipe npt is 27 tpi and British is 28. The old fitting from trail gear creeper breather is bspt but it never fit well. One way or another this issue will be solved soon so I can burn the truss on.

I am getting very excited!

Dude I am stoked to see this coming together.

I can't help wanting to just sit in it and play with the shifters. Haha. I have wanted to build a jeep like this for so long.

The knobs are in a very comfortable position and are easy to shift. I wish the third shifter was a little taller but I can raise the bracket down the road if need be. For now I just screwed on the knob half way to raise it up 1/2" to an 1"

Josh you build insanely clean Shit.. it's no wonder you want something as simple as a shifter knob adjustment.
it'll be so fun seeing this thing on the trail.. I feel your excitement

yeah josh has the ultimate rig. built axles and a atlas 4 speed and a stroker, all under a late model ...so jealous of this bad boy.

Yeah, I'm jealous too. Got a look at. Black Betty when I picked up some shocks from Josh. It is one sweet ride.

10:1 will be fun to see wth 5.13s and 35s . Really deep gearing for those tires. That will be sick.

Should be standard 1/2x13 thread.. hit granger and order up a pair of standoffs to whatever height you want?

Good point Cal. The angle of the cable is pretty nice and raising it will only increase the pressure due to cable routing. It was already a pain to tread into position.

Welding a new rod on would be simple

Ahh looked up standoff. Haha. Didn't know that's what it was called I couldn't find anything like it in my searches. I usually resort to rambling to the clerk and having him bring 10 different things until he figures out what i am talking about.

Even better than I was thinking, no need to weld.

Thanks Cal.

Just keep in mind, as you make the shift levers longer you have more leverage.

Our shift levers are 16" on 4643. Between those and Goatmans freakish superhuman strenght* we managed to actually break an atlas shift fork..

*he once changed a tire during a race with a 3/8" drive ratchet that was 7" long, because we lost our tire wrench..

Almost done burning on the truss. I ended up not drilling the vent in the usual location. Looks like it would go through right next to the bearings and seal. Wouldn't want to drill it out without taking the diff out.

Fired her up for the first time in a long time and she screamed like a banshee without the exhaust system.

Hope to have everything burned in tonight and will measure and order shocks.

I also shifted and ran the atlas through the gears to try to push the oil to the front case. Shifts very smooth.

So whats left now ? Trackbar and long arms ?
