I was thinking it would be nice to have a forum for more standard tools in a what tools work best, when, where, and how forum. I see we have an advanced tool fabrication forum, but for a lot of the less experienced people it might be nice to have a forum for simple topics like what kind of multimeter to buy, which ones work best for what (digital versus analog), and a how to use the tool (like a multimeter) questions and answers. For example, I see of lot of newbies in the OEM forum that need simple instructions on how to select and use their first multimeter.

If we don't create a standard tool forum, where would it be appropriate to post such tool threads?

I have a few ideas already I would like post for such threads, then we could direct the tool questions that come up in the OEM forum to the tool forum. Evetuall some a FAQ's could created for items like multi meters.

This has been discussed in the past by the Board of Directors. If you want them to consider it again, you would need to bring your suggestion to the BOD via the Members forum or PM.
