Re: New Build for 2011

I have to say that is my least favorite mod ever.

Really? I plan on doing the same. I see it as a extremely functional mod.

Nice job, post up some more pics of the finished product.

Re: New Build for 2011

I did it in my last XJ, and it sucks. You constantly smell gas, it makes it a bitch to get a sticker, it sucks to fill and never goes to a full tank, and to be honest I've never even come close to hitting where a skid would have been. If it was a trail only rig I'd do it, otherwise, f**k that.

i dont smell gas, it still takes a full tank and my gas cap is still behind my fuel door so no inspection place will know anything is different. i daily drive my jeep and didnt think twice about doing it. out of all the people i know who have done it, none of them has had a problem. not to knock ya but if you havent came close to hitting your skid youre not wheeling big enough trails, sorry man.

Re: New Build for 2011

Still on my list, besides i just spilled a half gallon of gas for my chainsaw in the jeep anyway

Still want to see the finished product, especially the tubes to the filler cap

Re: New Build for 2011

i ended up ditching the Protofab bumper for an ORS high clearance. i finished the rear suspension. usa re 4.5" leafs, liquid iron relocation brackets, 1.25 re shackles. i ended up making a bar to mount my rear shocks.

my neighbors on the other both have XJs now as well. first the younger one built one now his father just picked up one.

Re: New Build for 2011

What didn't you like about the leaf sliders? I have a set of them ready to go on my Jeep.

Also, can you throw out what front springs and valving of Bilsteins you are using in the front?

Re: New Build for 2011

oh, so sexy...

every angle...:loveu:

love the stubby, had my sights on RigidCo, but ORS's just fits my budget better... curious, Liquid Iron's making leaf relocating brackets, or was that a custom order? cheaper than other options?

bolt on version hung just a little to low for me. they made my rig super stable on and offroad though.

6.5" calyton with 255/70 valving

lol thanks man. the ors bumper is great. i really like how it ties into the unibody. tim is gonna start making the relocation brackets. im not sure if they are on the site or not yet. i went with him because i trust his craftsmanship and they are simple to bolt one piece design. im local to his shop so he welded up a set and picked them up the same day.

yea, definitely a beefy lil bumper... recovery points, steering box/front end reinforcement, PLUS recessed winch!

brackets arent up on the site, i checked before i asked... one piece bolt on huh? gonna keep my eyes open for them, interested to see how these compare to the rest
