It is time to replace this tranny, cause it doesn't even want to work anymore. haha. So let me know if you have one for sale or If you know of one. Thanks. , Josh

hows your clutch master /slave? clutch? pressure plate? flywheel? linkage?
'

jon, clutch is new. like maybe 5k on it. Tranny was never that good to begin with, it just kept getting worse. then the other night it didnt want to shift anymore. dont want to deal with it really. I will take it out when I have time and look into it.
kevin, that second one might be worth it. Im looking for pretty cheap. Thanks

second thought, that second c list add is an internal slave. I would rather have the external

I looked around for awhile after I smoked my tranny and couldn't find a good one to throw in. Looked around for six months while my junk sat in the driveway broken. Finally bit the bullet and picked one up at a place in Hayward with a one year unlimited mileage warranty. It cost more than I wanted to spend but I didn't want to rip it out twice. Been in for about 500 miles now, so far so good.

what about looking into something cool like a tranny that has a granny low?
like a t18, sm465, sm420, np435 , etc? I'm sure you can get a pretty reasonably priced adapter to the 231 or find a tranny that bolts right up ?

jon I was kinda thinking about that. i might look into it

i just googled it. you can get a t18 in there or a np435 with a cj t150 bell housing it looks like. might be more work than its work. or a NV4500 from a rubicon?

or just do it right and put in a aw4. you'll love it.

get a t18 or np435 and setup a thumb throttle.
i read a ton of threads on early cj guys bitching about the clutch in numerous situations, and saying how they loved converting to an auto, but that a thumb throttle helps a ton with the clutch situation.
the control with the auto is nice. the braking with the clutch is nice. there are pros and cons. mike is right you'll lose some HP with the auto, i don't know how much though .

I love HP so aw4 is a no go. and I love my manual. And my np231 has a teralow and I can practically stop without it dying. And I do have a thumb throttle (currently wire is messed up) and it is awesome.

Bump, in case someone stumbled on a tranny and forgot to tell meee.... haha

I may be heading to pick n pull on Sunday if I don't go fishing. I'll see if they have any. If I spot a Dakota with one I'll let you know too. Would need to source a bell housing though if any of the dodges have one.

sweet!! thanks for the lookout

cool. Again, thanks for the help.
