Need help installing my lift in IN - Got a garage?

Hey folks,

I got my RE6030 3.5" Lift Kit and 4 OME shocks from the UPS man today. I think I've done the research I need, and I'm going to install the lift first, then have my local 4x4 shop install a SYE and new driveshaft.

Does anyone have a garage with plenty of good power tools or air tools enough to install my kit, and possibly cut the holes in my cargo area to access my upper shock mounts WHEN the bolts break? lol

I turn 22 Thursday, so I can bring beer and pay for lunch/dinner for EVERYBODY (i don't care how many people show up, the more the merrier).

Anywhere in Indiana would be best, or perhaps near the Chicago, IL area (i have every Sat & Sun off work)

Thanks!!!

If you need a place I've got the garage space to work in, but I don't have any power tools. I'm only about an hour from you so if you just need a place to work and some help let me know.

Give me a call. 317-432-5337. We have a shop in Whiteland, IN. With Lift, Air tools, heat. ect. Just about 45 minutes north of you. We get together every Wednesday night for " JEEP NIGHT". There is always at least 3 of us. If you want to do it next Wednesday that's cool with us. Lets get it set in stone and we will put out an official invite to anyone who wants to come. I think Fuel90 is only about 5 minutes away. It would be a good opertunity for everyone to get together and put a name with a face.

I'm 5 minutes away too. I'll help.

And don't pay to have the SYE installed. It's a piece of cake, if you want I'm sure some of us can walk you through it.

Is this an aal kit, or a full leaf pack kit? Hack and tap, or HD SYE?

Wow - everyone's response is really overwhelming!

IndyJeepNut, what Wednesday, April 6th? By then I'll have the SYE in, and maybe pick up a JKS adj. tracbar, SS front brakelines, and that will give me plenty of time to PB Blaster the crap outta my Jeep.

Dirk - it's a full leaf pack kit, HD SYE, and I've got OME shocks. :)

Thanks guys, let me know if April 6th works!

do it closer to Nebraska and ill show up!

eh?

awww shucks...

well best of luck with jacking 'er into the air!

Just go to NAPA and get '95 YJ stock front and rear rubber brake lines. 2 front 1 rear.

They bolt right on, add 4" in length, and are much cheaper.

Stainless lines seem to be developing a bad rep. YMMV.

If you plan it on a Wednesday, my time will be limited, as I won't be home from work until 6ish.

Come on out, I'll put you up.

So is anyone in Indy invited to Jeep Night? I Can't make it tonight but would love to meet some people who share the craziness. I live on the northside but work in greenwood.

You pick. We can do it on the 30th of this month or the 6th of next. Jeep night starts at 5:30 and ends when we get done. Dirk is correct don't pay to have the SYE installed. We can do it too. Let me know.

Any one who wants to come to jeep night is invited. We take turns working on each others stuff. All we as is that you are willing to grab a wrench and get dirty.

getting dirty is against my religion. ;) working on a wednesday night though, are we going to try to get it all done in one night, or do half and half? we all need to get together at BW3's or hooters too. friday nights are best for me.

Don't cut holes in your cargo area, there are access holes from underneath you can reach them from. Just pop the broken bolts out with an air chisel (or hammer and punch) from underneath, and put a nut taped to a wrench in through the holes in the member of the shock mount crossmember.

Saves a lot of frustration, and only takes a few minutes per side.

I would hope we could do it in 1 night. My guess is there will be around 10 guys/girls here to get it done.

Let's plan on April 6th - my Mom is coming up from Kentucky next Thursday, and she wouldn't be too happy to see that I'd dropped $2000 on lift, tires, SYE and driveshaft when that money's supposed to be going toward my education. ;) Does the 6th work for everybody?

That's incredible! My 4x4 shop around here could do the SYE, but it would cost me an arm and a leg. And then I couldn't drive my Jeep with only two limbs.

I called up NAPA today and he said the front left and right were different for a '95 4.0L 4x4 YJ. He said about $22.04 each. Sound right?

It's my Jeep - I wanna be the first to bust a knuckle or lose a finger. :D My life in college and my line of work is too clean, too dressy. That's why for me at least, God invented Jeep. :)

Excellent idea! I'll probably still bring some metal and sealant to cover any holes we MIGHT have to make.

April 6th sound good to y'all?

Thanks so much for the overwhelming support! I'm glad to know there is even such a thing as "Jeep Night" locally! I have Wednesdays off from work/school too, so I'd love to pitch in and help others in my spot, too!!!

In addition to the lift/shocks, here's what I'm planning on bringing - let me know if there's more I need to add to this list:

- HD SYE Kit
- Bar Pin Eliminators w/bolts for the rear shocks
EDIT: I just found out that JKS BPEs don't work with OME shocks :(
- JKS Adjustable Trackbar
- Metal plates & sealant for worst-case-scenario with rear shocks
- Front Extended Brake Line (one kind or another)
- $$$ for food for everybody (anything I can do to thank y'all)
- A getting down-and-dirty attitude :D
