Ya, 40 hrs x $10/hr = $400 / week
Figure 25% tax... $400 x 0.25 = $300 / week (take home)
($300/week) x (4 weeks/month) = $1200 (take home)

thanks but, im not looking for figures no offense, i can do the simple stuff, im looking for exactly what the state and federal tax percentages are on income claiming single, zero in oregon

thanks alot bud, just moved here like 2 months ago, trying to see if im gonna be able pay rent and support me and my fiance (she comes in 2 months) until she gets a job, or mooch off my dad for a while after she gets here lol. oh yea....and finish building my heep . gotta line on a hp 44 front and 9in for 250, and that line is when ever he has them(often) if any ones interested. so im shooting for 250 on axles, and 500 for steel for my long arms, so close yet so far.

Didn't we just do our taxes? Head to the post office and pick up some tax forms...

consider filing a W-4 with more exemptions so each paycheck is larger. You won't get the big refund every year but you will get more money every week instead."

No point in letting Uncle Sam hold onto your money all year (without paying you a dime of interest). FWIW, I work it so I net zero or even pay a little at tax time so my money works for me all year instead of the government.

I do not know how I manage to do it, but every year without fail I owe money, claim single 0 in oregon, and I always owe both the feds and the state, being single, with no children, do not own a home/business etc. I always owe even though I have the max taken out of every check during the year. The only tax credit i got this year was $200 for the feds for putting money into a 401k. taxes are not my friend and I have not been able to figure out why I always seem to owe, I guess the government is convinced I make more money than I need.

Just stumbled in here....I'll throw my opinion in. Use the calculator that John90XJ used. It will be very simple for you with one income and basically no itemized deductions. Your standard deduction will probably be your taken deduction.

Assuming you work 2,080 hours this year @ $10/hour, your income will be $20,800 so your taxable will be $17,150 (20,800-3,650). Tax due on $17,150 will be $2,155 (10% up to 8,350 and 15% on the remainder). Don't use 25%...it will be too much.

Figure you need to be paying $42 a week to Federal. Adjust your exemptions to get there.
