Name that part game...the washer piece that holds the map light in

That's right. I have no clue what that washer looking piece that holds the map light in is called. There are two of them per overhead console/light module and I need to find replacements as I'm installing a new headliner.

I went to Lowe's and Northern Tools and the guys there looked at me like I was crazy.

Napa has them in little bags by the christmas tree clips and trim screws

Any idea what they are called?

Are you talking about the washers that slide up the little plastic posts? If so just take the posts out and use a screw to hold up the map light...worked for me

Any autoparts store should have them in a variety pack on the" help" aisle.

Went to O'Reilly, Advanced, Lowe's, Northern Tool, and finally NAPA. NAPA sells them and they are called push nuts. 50 pack was the smallest size, for $4.99. If anyone needs 10 or 20, I have 46 left.

"tinnerman nuts" -- not that asking for them by name will probably help much

Every hardware store sells them in all sizes, some even have plastic caps on them for kids toys and such.

Moving on to another question, what did I do wrong here?





The headliner was from a donor vehicle, and the hole for the light is much smaller than the light. Should that metal tab sticking out of the front of the headliner be between the headliner backing board and the roof?

Si, senor-- it goes in, and under the liner and the "tinnerman nut" goes on last.

And you may have to make the hole a little bigger in the headliner as well.
