My front end fix

I cut a lot of corners to get my Jeep on the road last summer(rolled my DD) and I finally have time to fix them so I've been at it since Tuesday. Heres some pics. In all I'm extending my trac bar, replacing the stock puny and tweaked lower mounts, putting a bushing in the upper to get a 9/16 bolt, capped off my cross member, new brake lines that are actually mounted right, painting my control arms and trac bar gold, everything else black, bump stop pads and rebuilding and valving my shocks. heres some pics.

Still have to do the trac bar tomorrow. My question is what valving do you guys run? I have Bilstein 7100s with 360/75 or 80 I think(forgot what the sticker said) and their too soft. what would you guys recommended for a starting point?

i thought that was the stiffest valving they offered for those so i guess your next step would be a stiffer coil.

I ran the 360/80 and they were great!! Not sure why you are thinking they are too soft. What amount of pressure are you charging them with?

200psi im pretty sure. I have rubicon express 5.5 coils

please tell me that's not the end of the stock uppers welded into a piece of tube... if so change that right now, before it comes apart in the whoops (or worse yet on the freeway). I have a set of arms in my "don't do this" scrap pile that were made that way, pulled them off of an xj a buddy of mine bought for the motor and trans. the stock arm pieces ripped at the welds on the freeway and flipped the jeep :gee:


If I'm mistaken, then carry on, but even if they're sheetmetal and you made them that design will fail, you're creating a massive stress point on the joint between tube and sheet metal. get some thick U channel deep enough, drill a hole in the center of the bottom of the U the size of your tube, and push it through and weld the innfer face where they line up and the back side. it will be much stronger because the force will be put on the spot under the weld where the metal butts together instead of on the weld.

its 1/8 cold rolled. My brother and I built the whole front kit. its 4 seperate plates welded around the tube with a lot of weld. Its held up to a lot so far so I'm not to worried
