Yeah, I think a horde of monster XJs needs to descend on 4wp with a boatload of outlandish requests.

AMEN!! :yelclap: :yelclap: :yelclap: :yelclap: :yelclap:

I bet its great being a girl, and having all of us salivating men ready to open up a can of whoop as on a parts store.

Haha hope you get it all taken care of.

Well, thanks to Tim's diligent help, we found the source of the grinding noise when I'd stop. I was experimenting with it while at a stop light on my way back to school. I shifted into neutral, and the noise immediately stopped. But it started up again when I shifted back into drive. Turns out Baker (the guy who installed my lift) stripped the top bolt that holds the right rear shock in place, and the shock was loose at the top and rattling against the exhaust. But b/c the bolt sheared off, part of it is still stuck in the hole so it has to be drilled out. I'm going to take it over to Baker's tomorrow and let him do it since it was his fault for not correcting it beforehand....I guess that's what I get when I get a person to do it rather than pay more for a shop...oh well.

And Tim thinks that I need 4 degree axle shims and probably ultimately a SYE. :(

I think the shims will fix you... do it first... then MAYBE a sye.. but I doubt it.

You came off way better haveing someone do it if only a shock bolt broke... a shop woulda charged you mucho dinero

Where did you buy your lift from?

Hey cool thanx! I got the lift at 4WP cos they gave me a 10% discount on it and $60 off on the BFGs...possibly the only positive thing to come out of the experience...

And once I get all this straightened out, I'm gonna put this on the front:

Picked it up on Ebay for pretty cheap...:D

NVM 3.5" dont come with trac bars

Correct. Do the shims, then drive it and see if your vibes/grinding has gone away. If it's still there, THEN consider an SYE. Sorry, should have cleared that up a bit more for you earlier.

Balljoints all checked out by doing the 12-6 & 9-3 method (hands at 12&6 and again at 9&3 and shaking). Felt no play either way, and everything else upfront appears to be in good working order, and nice and tight.

Aside from the vibes and grinding, it rode and drove great. Gotta say I really like the looks of the RE kits. Perhaps some day in the way distant future, i'll move on up to a 3.5 or 4.5 RE kit.

Katie, I would still take it to your friend who works at that tire garage and have him look over everything. I'm by no means a specialist and may have very well missed something that he might catch....another opinion certainly isn't going to hurt anything. And since you said you've known him for a long time, he's probably not going to try and screw you over. But from what I can tell, everything feels nice and tight.

Oh, and i'll bet you that "pop" you heard when you hit that speed bump yesterday was the sound of the shock slipping off the ONE bolt that was holding it on.

Cool thanks a lot Tim! Was a real pleasure meeting you and having you check everything out! Thanks again!

Just noticed you wrote this...yes you're right that's probably exactly what I heard. It definitely came from the back and it popped twice. :(

Any time! It's was great meeting you as well! Hollar if you need anything else :)

Well I heard from Baker and he said that he doesn't want to drill the bolt out due to something he told me that I can't remember...lol but he's gonna get back to me 2moro about getting a Goodyear tire place to fix it (or something like that...)

Cut a small hole in the floor and take the bolt out..... OR if there's bolt showing go pick up an extractor set and give that a shot...

Good thing I titled this thing 'major project' b/c that's exactly what it's turning out to be! Might not seem that way to you guys on here, but to me, it's turning into a bit of a headache...

Lol It's never going to stop either! It's one thing after another... At least you don't have to worry about wether or not your plane will fly from a conveyor belt.

This is true! That's a bit of a stickier situation..

So Andy, are you in on our 4WP assault next weekend? :D
