My first 4x4

Took out the jeep today up to niagra rim trail. After looking over the 4x4 trail maps seems like I made it thru most of the obstacles. I made it thru no way out hill fairly easy, then ph hill was easier then I expected it to be, then down hard break hill, on over to sidewall suicide I entered up it between the trees and down the steep exit. That's when the damage started. When I came off I pinched my exhaust shut. Quick work with my hammer , tire iron and it was open again. Headed over to lions butt and seemed to travel up and down and around a few times before finding my way out to a sign pointing me to the rock pile. I headed down to the bottom farthest back trail up and just at the bottom of the hill I sliced open the sidewall of my right rear tire. I then limped it out of there back down to the campground on 5n01 and got saved by Chris due to me going wheeling without a spare( lesson learned). Once again thank you much for driving up and letting me use your spare 33. Made me realize it's time for a bigger tire.

I wish it wasn't so far for me to get down to that part of the State. It looks like you have a lot of wheeling to do there.
SF in a few weeks, that is my one planned venture out your way.

So got into some more metal cutting today. Chopped a little more front fenders and front bumper to allow a better approach angle. Then also replaced my driver side hockey puck ( since I lost it last visit to niagra rim trail). Hopefully this trip ends with less carnage.

Had a blast getting my revenge. Went up Saturday to the rim trail and headed straight into lions butt and decided to try to follow all of Chris' lines. Was surprised to see what my jeep was capable of. Even ran a line through the rock pile.

So Chris' flex makes me realize it's time to upgrade my lift. Time for more flex

Don't ever post that 1st picture again. JK, nice rig, man.

Coming from cars so low to rip off the lane marker/reflectors I'd say I've shown a lot of improvement of what I realize I can climb. Almost have all parts to lift the front just need to order a few more to complete the rear lift.

so you ran the niagara trail with 31's and no protection?

i was thinking of making a camping trip out of that one of these weekends. but i wasnt sure how my rig would fare. im on 31's also but have 3.5'' lift LSD rear.

Yea I dragged my jeep coming down sidewall suicide and scraped a few other places but made it no problem. You should have no issues with the 3.5" lift and 31s

Finished installing my front lift today. 3" coils with 2" spacers ,rubicon express track bar ,adjustable lower control arms, 3/4" transfer case drop, along with a custom dif guard.

Man you really need to get that rear end up, it needs to be a little higher than the front.

My plan is to keep the rear a little lower then the front. Should keep it more stable. I'm thinking at first I'm gunna go the cheaper route and install 2" blocks.

bastard pack + shackles.

I love that everyone seems to have there own way of doing things. I plan to do the blocks then 2.5" rubicon express full length add a leaf.i only plan to have the rear .5 - 1" lower then the front. I'll be taking it up to slick rock trail in a couple weeks. I'll see how it does( I'm hoping to have the blocks before then). I'll have fun either way

Yeah everyone has their own way, but there's one thing most people in their right mind will agree on: lift blocks are bad news. The possible failures far outweigh how cheap they are. Suck it up and get real leaves or you'll regret it.

my rear is 1-1.5' lower than my front and It works great for me.

blocks will work for a little while, but when that centering pin shears(if it has one), the blocks will start moving and your axle will start getting all outa shape. I recommend getting no lift relocation brackets, boostwerks flexy shackles, and find a used cheap leaf pack, or make your own.
