MWC Members; Who do you support?

x2 I know we do the trail clean up there but I know they could use more and since they are the closest park to me, I can take full advantage of it! :D

I wouldn't mind donating again to Redbird, but I am biased. The state has it handled pretty well, so I would suggest making the donation to the Redbird Foundation instead of the park itself. The money would still end up back into the park through equipment rental and material costs, but wouldn't get caught up in state red tape.

I would also be willing to donate the money to the Blue Ribbon Coalition or other national group to support keeping trails open nationwide.

Good thinking Byron, I would like to see money going toward keeping trails open as well.

Can someone please post a list of the projects in the MWC that the BRC has worked with/on?? I'm not questioning their contributions in other parts of the country. But if we are looking at something chapter specific..then it should be chapter specific.

How is the place in Minnesota administered? Iron Range or whatever its name is.

I'm not against giving it to the WOHVA again, but we should spread it around the chapter to all the worthy organizations. The money isn't coming from just members in the COW.

Iron Range (Gilbert) is a State run ORP. MN has a sticker program that keeps that and other parks running.

I again vote for WOHVA as they continue to be the backbone of efforts in Wisconsin to open trails for us on Public land, Work closely with the NFS, the DNR, and the Tribes to bring us trails that we can all enjoy. Unfortunately, they can do nothing with privately held land, but in the past year, they have made some outstanding efforts to garner support for our recreation in WI, including finally getting 4WD owners representation on the State Trail Council which oversees trail building proposals in the State.

There is no rule which indicates that all the money the BOD releases needs to go to one place. $250 is the minimun which gets NAXJA a supporting Club status. Money well spent IMO.

this is another one that I came across. The states that they cover are all within the boundaries of the MWC. I know that they have some sort of insurance that is offered to smaller clubs to keep them covered for events etc. I know that they are active and some of the members from MIOBI have spoke highly of them. Just a thought...any input??

Our Club once thought of joining MW4WDA, we didn't find it worth the $10/Member to join.

I read the insurance policy a few years back, it didn't seem to be worth the paper it was printed on. So, besides the insurance, what else do they do for our recreation? I would love to hear something positive!

I looked their site over and there is no mention of a place to see the insurance policy but it gives contact information for policies etc. Just reading their history page will give a little insight to them..it did for me.

I am not a member, but I would really like to know more about this park/ club. MIOBI. Can someone say is it is non-profit? Chime in Iowa bro's. Colon, Ryan? Brian?

MIOBI's play area is on private land, we give him plenty of money (I think). Did you not see Andy's post above??

I was late getting to the party, everyone voiced my opinion already too

SMORR and Flat nasty are not considered "Not for profit" to the best of my knowledge. I had forgot (dont know how) about Tuttle Creek. I will have to check into KS Rocs about its profit status. Both of those, Tuttle & KS Rocks, are good choices IMO. maybe Parakeet will chime in on KS Rocks.

EDIT: Tyler beat me to it.........

It is not our intent to give funding a privately owned business. Those are off road parks that are a business to make money. The intent is to put this money toward land use. Such as has been done in the past with Redbird (which is owned by the state of IN and at the time was ran by a volunteer staff on a very limited budget) or WOHVA.

Thanks Ron... I couldn't remember if Iron Range was a true state run, or somewhat like Redbird.

Just a thought for the future. We(as a chapter) may want to organize a list of these organizations for these types of occurances.
