MWC Home brew thread

Thanks for your help Rew. It was good to have an obsessive newb there to counter-balance my somewhat lackadaisical approach to brewing. :D

Both brews are fermenting nicely this morning, time to move the lager to the fridge.

I like your approach, its more my style than all the science :D

i think i may have sniffed up some hop dust, i swear i have been smelling it all day.

me and the wife were strutting around Menards tonight so i grabbed a couple things...

coil of 3/8ths copper 20' $14.00

gonna put a couple clamps on it and call it good. under 20 bucks for a immersion cooler

That should work. Did you steal your parents turkey fryer yet?

This morning before work, I transferred my Czech Pilsner to secondary. I didn't sample it, but it sure smelled good.

After work, I secondaried my Bavarian Helles, and kegged my Dunkelweiss. Both of them tasted great.

John has been consistently making great beer for as long as I have known him. Without Mr. Beer kits...... He and another member got together and traded ideas. And if John thinks it's a good beer from a Mr. Beer kit, it's a good beer.

I don't think that anybody is advocating that you *SHOULD* get a Mr. Beer kit. A Mr. Beer kit is better than not brewing at all. From what little I know about MB, I would expect some difficulties in sanitation, but they should be very repeatable batches due to the fact that it's almost a boil, dump & ferment.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend that anybody buy one, I'd certainly try and get them into a better extract brewing system.

I was the one using the MR beer kits, john (lesslimited) was just saying that a good beer can be made from one. the best thing you can do with a MR beer kit is not follow the directions.

or it could be that i am awesome at everything i do...

Let me know how this works. Not having one is what has kept me from brewing in the summer.

Flare then ends of the copper tubing just a bit, so there's a ridge at the end.

And today, I've remembered why I like kegging. Bottled 5 gallons of a sorghum beer (gluten free,) for one of the local bar tenders who's very gluten intolerant. The stuff smelled pretty good actually when I opened the fermenter, and it did ferment almost dry. 6.25 lbs. of white sorghum extract w/ Safale US05 dry yeast.

And hoping to brew a Kolsch, a breakfast stout and an American wheet tomorrow.

speaking of bottling being a PITA... i cleaned up a load of them today here is my makeshift drying system

Creative!

Some look like they may not drain completely, though.

I could make you a deal on a couple/few kegs, I don't think I really need a dozen.

I kegged the Bavarian Helles yesterday morning, very tasty even un-carbonated.

Ordered a few more kits from NB to brew for Brewfest, which I'm thinking may be August 18th.

Bottle trees. A bottle tree would be yer friend.

Rained just enough here today to keep me from brewing.

the ones off to the sides are ranger IPA's, fricken skinny bottles the first slid right threw the gate.

i still have to brew the Irish red, i was thinking of doing it tonight but i am pretty beat from the weekend.
