MWC Home brew thread

Working on another batch of what I'm now calling ''Apple Shine'...

However, I'm really curious about trying to make some Pump Ale... Looks like a trip to Midwest Supplies is in store...

Picked up a turkeyfryer and some ingredients and got a simple brew going.

6lb pilsen one
1oz 60min
1oz at 20min
1oz at 5 min
And 1 oz for a dryhop
All cascade
Us05 dry ale yeast

It's in the carboy, hope it turns out good.
Wanted to do this smash style to get to know diffrent hops and malts. So I will probably do a couple more like this.

I predict a fairly dry, hoppy flavor. Some darker malt or steeping some crystal 40 or 60 would give a maltier flavor to balance all those hops. Should still be good though.

I've been so busy with work since the beginning of September that I have had no time to brew. I've kegged the Brewfest lager and the Houblemonstre, and have been enjoying those. I still have the Zombie Dust clone and another lager to brew, maybe I can make some time next week...

Probably should have mentioned that i was going for a hoppy ale. this is gonna be a brew to share at the family Christmas party. i wanted to do an IPA but the way my family drinks, and the price of IPA kits it would be like watching money go down the drain(or side of a tree).

Any one brewing anything?

i got a dunklewizen (spelling?) kit for Christmas, not sure when i will brew it up. also got this "IPA" book by mitch steele for some reading.

the hoppy ale turned out pretty good. the family liked it. i might try and throw something quick and easy together like that again. proably use the northern brewer gold malt with some steeping grains like john suggested.

I still haven't brewed the ones I was talking about in November. I brought the brewfest lager and houble over to my buddy Matt's house for a party, and didn't get much back, so he gave me an NB gift certificate for xmas. That'll be two or three more kits to brew.

I brew in my shop in the winter months, but a large portion of the work I've been doing has been cabinet building, so the shop has been too full, and messy, to brew in. It's fairly clean now, hopefully I can keep it that way since I only have a few smaller cabinet jobs left....

Maybe next week sometime?

Rew and I brewed up a World Wide Lager (non-skunky Heineken clone) last night. My buddies Fred and Matt stopped by also, and we finished off the last of the houble and red ale, so I am out of homebrew for the first time in I don't know how long.

Gonna try and do the zombie dust clone next week, then I have a chocolate milk stout, india black ale, and belgian session beer kits to brew. Some of these will make it to WF, since Rew agreed to watch over the kegs and bring them home for me.

Yeah, we found quite a few variants; we know other guys who brew, and like the Founders, but no one has tried one yet. Guess we'll have to do some more reading.

It was a good time, hope i can make it next week. The ole lady thinks her schedule will be the same next week, i will let ya know sometime this weekend.

I've been absent since June but haven't done much brewing in between then and now. I made a Red Rye Ale with subtle American hops. I brewed up a really nice batch of Graf that didn't last long at all. I think there was a German style hefeweizen in there, too. My lastest is a Belgian IPA with Australian and New Zealand hops. It is a big damn beer coming out to 8.2% abv...one bomber can sure get you started.

brewed yesterday because it was nice out and i was bored, the kids needed to get some fresh air also.

less than 24hrs...

healthy fermentation.

How hard is it to brew your own beer in an apartment complex?
There are a lot of apartment brewers, even full mash brewers. You will have to get good at organization & storage, though.

Had to rig up a blow off tube it was coming threw the air lock.
