Mom takes Jeep into town...

1. Find out what is wrong. If it is exspensive ask Mom to help since you aren't the one who broke it.
2. Once it is fixed make a point of constantly grumbling about how you have to wiggle the linkage to make things work properly and the brakes require a special triple pump to work. Also make sure you get mud on the inside, preferably on the instrument cluster and top of the dash.
3. If you ever break or wreck one of her cars immediately man up and take full responsibility adn get it fixed ASAP.

I accidently and the cv driveshaft broke in my wife's ZJ. That's how I got my XJ. :gee:

1: Nobody drives my Vehicle unless i am in it.
2: I've pegged the speedo in Fulltime 4wd (i have a 242)
3: that was hardly enough snow to chain up a Geo, let alone require 4wd..

Mine stops better in snow when in 4wd. I have no idea why, but I did it today in about a foot of snow in 2wd and in 4wd and there is a difference IMHO.

Mine stops better as well. I've had this experience with every 4WD I've owned, all without ABS. Reason being, 4WD forces the wheels to be at (about) the same speed, meaning the braking force is distributed evenly amongst the wheels. I find this helps keep any of the wheels from locking.

I accidently put my foot to the floor with the wheels turned in a parking lot and the cv driveshaft broke in my wife's ZJ. That's how I got my XJ. :gee:
ficksted

I would have driven my mom into town. She has her own XJ (it's what inspired me to get one, i grew up in it) but i know she drove me places in horrible weather before i had a license, so i guess i would return the favor. just my opinion. Plus everyone that drives my jeep has to go through the crash course on all the issues and quirks LOL

i would have, but i had to go to work...

Meh...

If you (at 16) can afford both a daily driver and a designated trail rig, I figure you can afford to let dear ole mum slide on the t-case linkage.

I suspect that her support has probably helped you to afford the toys in the first place...

:dunno:

the g/f has my jeep today as she's moving stuff around.... I have her miata...

She's driven it before many times, so I am not too worried.

No it was actually coming off Jacks Pass at the bottom onthe ice when I dumped it into drive at 4000 rpm in the ZJ with fulltime 4x4. Much cooler than a parking lot. :gee: Trying to remove the shaft on the side of Hiway 2 at Baring sucked though....

Stuff like rent and utilities...

I'm not trying to give you crap. I was 16 too, about a hundred years ago, and that's one of the upsides to being 16. (Another upside is 16 year old girls, but that's a whole 'nother thread...)

I'm just sayin', it's your mom, dude. I'm sure she has forgiven some of your little accidents...

Robert

When I lived at home and over the course of the several Jeeps Ive had, sure ive lent them out to my parents from time to time. It was usually only in the snow, which I felt would be ok since both my parents grew up in the late 50's/early 60s driving rear wheel drive cars in the snow. I took my dad out wheelin one weekend with my buddys and he bought his XJ a little while later, now I don't have to worry about being asked. :D Just give the parents the Jeep bug, problem solved.

Where are you working that they let a 16 yo work full time? Most places I have lived have a limit on where and for how many hours a person under 18 can work. School?

Ouch you got the shaft! :D

Seriously though Miatas handle like they are on rails and I like the look of the newest model. I don't understand why they never put a rotary in it though!

I know in AZ if under 18 you are only legally allowed to work for 20hrs a week during the school year.
