MidWest Chapter?

I tried to find it for you guys, but it must be buried somewhere....

IIRC, there used to be some "instructions" so-to-speak on starting a chapter....pretty much outlined the requirements and stuff.

is NJ Mike reading this?

can you shed some light?

I'm looking for this info, too. It was on one of the old forums, or on the old home page ... and I don't remember the old "secret" user name and password to get in. If you remember them ... hit me with a PM please.

I'm all for a new chapter. Was thinking about trying out "The Great Lakes" chapter to include western PA. western NY, Ontario, OH,MI,IN,IL,WI, and MN. A larger area but the more the better. Put my in on the planning a Midwest Chapter. Will be easier for me now that I work locally now. Let me know what I can do to get it started.

PA and NY are already part of the North Atlantic Chapter.

As for "... the more the better" -- don't be too sure. The NAC was the first chapter and we set out with visions of providing a quasi-local focus covering from Virginia through Maine and encompassing the Canadian Maritime Provinces. (At the time there were members in the Maritimes, but they seem to have disappeared.) As a practical matter, the traveling distances are too much for members from one extreme of the chapter region to attend trail rides or events at the opposite extreme. The result is that we have to juggle priorities and try to make an effort to hold events in multiple locations, yet not make them TOO close together on the calendar in case some of the more distant chapter members want to attend.

I don't think I'm ready to change the NAC, but based on our experience I think smaller chapters are the way to go. Picking a big area just to make it appear you have enough members to be a chapter is NOT an answer.

Check with the folks in Texas about why they voted themselves out of existence.

you mean there is no midwest chapter:confused: why the hell have i been sending $25 every other month to beezil then:confused:

cheers,

what would the benefit of a chapter be?? would we wheel more? would we become a closer knit clique? can we have our own stickers??

don't want to sound like I support BJ, but I do. If we're looking for a forum just for us, I like the den, good enough fer me.

I just don't think it'll do anything more than what we have right now, like the trip to the badlands that Sean put together, it still worked on the national board, this way too, if we're having a 'local' run and someone from out of our clique wanted to make the trip they at least would have the info w/o having to lurk on the 'midwest chap board'.

just answer the first question for me and if there's a good answer you'll have my total support.

I woud be interested in forming an "Anti-chapter chapter" We would go to all the events, be loud, wear clashing colors, obnoixus, smoke cigars, drink (of the trail), piss on other members Jeeps, and generally reinforce our anti-social behaviour.

Any takers?

Dan I will answer this for you. My opinion is that a chapter would be a better way to get more people to feel they have a personal bond rather then being a little fish in the big pond. I have been seeing more and more XJ's around here that are being modified and probably would like to join some kind of organization that was more personal
As for wheeling more, that is a personal issue for all parties. There could be more effective events such as park cleaning or some other kind of charity events.
As for the stickers, I have already been working on a chapter decal but I'm sure others would like to choose from a few more.

Not to be disrespectful but if you noticed I said Western PA and Western NY, knowing that both states are in NAC but they are also large states.
