Maybe moving from utah to the area.

I have just been enjoying all you rant. :yap:

Been busy for a few days, I will be going down for sure early February. Going to be taking my boy to Disney land and lots of other things. Will be staying in temecula for the most part. I may come down before that if the fiscal gods are in my favor.

Before I make any drastic decisions to move I would be spending a few weeks to a few months in cali or wherever I may roam.

End result though, woman just had vacation fever and wanted to get out of town. But that does not mean that we don't maybe want to move to see what other opportunities lye ahead elsewhere.

DrMoab, Fear not I would never leave Utah behind. Far to much here to just, not come back. I just always think to myself what is missing? But more then likely it is a circular logic question that I will find out way farther down life... Thanks for trying to keep me in Utah with all the stereotypes that go along with it :)

California has the best Mexican food! Not as good as tacos from Tijuana but then again, i'm a taco snob :p ( not that there is such a thing)

Mexican food alone is a good reason to move here:p

That's because half of Mexico has moved there.

I agree though. I used to haul wrecked cars to San Diego. The guy was a Mexican citizen who had a house on this side if the border. We would haul them to his house on the Otay Mesa and he would process them and ship them to his shops on the other side of the border. Half the time we went there they were cooking and always invited us to eat. Some of the best food I've ever had.

I'll have to disagree with you on that point.

Some of the worst Mexican food I've ever had was in Tijuana....and I'll bet I'm just as picky (if not more so) about Mexican food than you are.....and I'm not Mexican.

I'm Dutch/Indonesian but, I grew up eating really good Mexican food and I had a Latina GF that was an awesome cook!....she was smoking hot and crazy as f***k but, that's a whole nother story!

Tacos shouldn't have cheese and crap in them and should be wrapped in a soft corn tortilla, not a filled hard shell! (I love Taco Bell, though :D)

Mmmmm......carnitas!

I judge a Mexican restaurant by the quality of their chile rellenos....if that sucks, pretty much everything else does too.

There are a couple of really good Mexican restaurants where I'm moving to in Cedar City so, I'm good :D

Then again, I've never had a taco de pescado as good as like the ones you get in Ensenada :(

Sorry, bad logic. Learn to cook for yourself and you'll never be without good food no matter where you live.

Not bad logic, just the troof son! No matter how good you think you may make Tacos, there is someone or some place that makes them that much better ;)

Don't flatter yourself cabron ;)

It's hit or miss just like anything else. But I have a spot 10 mins from the border headed towards Playas. I have had some really good tortas and Mulitas in TJ . NOthing has come close here in LA.

I agree that tacos dont need cheese and all that other shit. All you need is the mean, salsa, onions and cilantro. :)

Fish tacos are another story too... ummm... think ill make some today :)

The best torta that I've ever had is the torta Cubana (pierna adobada, milanesa, ham, seasoned head cheese, fresh avocado, Panella cheese, and refried beans) from El Gallo Giro on San Fernando & Pico. They do have other locations, but I've only ever eaten at that one..

I've been really disappointed with the tortas from that place. Usually the Milanesa is super tough and when you bite into it the whole torta falls apart.

The Roach Coaches are usually spot on in comparison to the TJ tortas.

:)

All this talk of food is making me hungry!

There's a guy that parks his taco trailer (Tulia's Tacos) over where I live and his wife makes the best shit....love the roasted chiles and green onions....I'm going to have to hit them up today :)

Yeah, no kidding. I think I'll make my Carne Asada Tortas today, or possibly tomorrow. Either way, I'll be having Tortas this week.

I need to make some guacamole too.

You nailed it that is exactly how I rate Mexican food. If the Chile Rellenos are good then the rest is great. Another good test if they do not make rellenos is the Chile Verde. If that is good more than likely so is everything else. As far as fish tacos Ensenada was king just going down to the fish market and getting the smoked Marlin was worth it. I once bought Calamari and had one of the stands batter & fry it up for my buddy and me. It wash't the same but it was still good. Next is Birria de Chivo not Res man for a hang over it's better than Menudo for me! Also try the Siete Mares soup man I miss Enesenada won't go down any more cause I wanna stay alive! If you ever get down to Cabo go to Cabo San Jose they have a grocery mall type place south of all the All Inclusive places. In side the outdoor mall is a taco place that makes a Torta called Torta Cabo San Lucas WOW!

You'd be fine if you went with a couple friends. Just don't flashing cash or what not. I been wanting to head to Ensenada for a while now.

Go to Porto's Bakery off the 2 frwy in Glendale. Get a Sandwiche Cubano or a Media Noche. Try that on for size if not try the Enpanada Espaniola de conejo. And for dessert a pastellito de queso creme y guava.

Every year Estero Beach wave runners quads to run on their track. Memorial, July 4th, Labor day like clock work if not 2 weeks down to Cabo thru Todos Santos then back up thru Los Barriles, Bahia Concepcion, Mulege, Loreto.

You ever been to Porto's? Your probably close enough to Versailles near La Cienega??
