Same EXACT thing happened to me coming back from meeting Victor S and Bandit455 down in PA, actually. I had a trailer full of 32s, was towing WELL beyond the speed I should have been, and got off the highway... instant smoke screen. Bottom of the pan was soaked, it was going all over my exhaust. It wasn't slipping that time, but it did that a week or two before I headed down, right as I got off the highway. I pretty much plan on getting a new transmission at some point, though I did a fluid change a while ago and it is doing better (slipped again recently though so I'll probably drain+fill again.)
