In a effort to bring this tangent on topic. I think it needs to go to the Vivid awards and maybe stop by CES this week.

You folks seem to have overlooked the fact that the plate is in Australia...........it'll have a better chance of showing up on a Beijing Super Cherokee than making it to Vegas this week.........broaden your scope.

Re: LUVMYJP Plate Tour 2004

Some Outback shots.

This is the Oodnadatta track which runs like this for 700 odd kms.

Areas we go through are un-fenced so you always have to keep an eye out. Some are more scary when you think the main route up the middle of our country, which is paved, has no speed limit and car markers send over prototypes for high speed hot weather runs. I have seen Porsche Cayenne's fly past at 240 kmh I was told later, years before they were released. We have sheep and cattle stations over a 1,000,000 acres and bigger than some US states and European countries.

LUVMYJP48.jpg

The roads here are just the surface of the area they run on. Here it was just sand and only have rock if there just happens to be some underneath.

LUVMYJP49.jpg

Just a nice shot with some Roo's in there as well.

LUVMYJP50.jpg

Just another nice shot I thought you might like.

Re: LUVMYJP Plate Tour 2004

Marcus...every time you post up pictures I really, really want to go on a trip with you!

How much do you think it'll be to ship my Jeep there ;)

Some guys from this forum are thinking of coming over for my next trip in December. I met them in Seattle last year and they took me stie seeing in the local wreaking yards which was great :laugh3: ( Had to buy an extra bag to get everything back home :) ) I looked into shipping their XJ's over but the hassel is huge not so much the cost. You are looking at about $1200 for a 10' or $1500 for a 20' shipping container one way. It is just the time lost clearing it through customs and they have to be inspected and not be carring a single spec of dirt in either direction too. They charge for all this as well.
I found a simplier way when I found this company at the Natation 4wd show where they hire out fully decked out Land Rovers which diff locks etc for $135 USD a day.

Re: LUVMYJP Plate Tour 2004

I thought you guys might be sick of seeing the plate here in the Outback but no it seems ;)
Got a few more for you then.

Here you see Mr plate sharing company with other fellow Aussie plates from around the country. This camp was our first night and on the boarder of our state. About 100 feet behind the trees is the river that marks the boarder for most of our State.

LUVMYJP39.jpg

He was looking into other ways to get around and found these two swingers. :laugh3:

LUVMYJP38.jpg

Got onto the tail of this plane but got too worried at they way they parked it!

LUVMYJP47.jpg

Found company from a pickup from Stateside, but he lacked the heart to take him any where. :(

LUVMYJP32.jpg

Tried to hitch a ride on a Roadtrain but was moving way too fast to get on.

LUVMYJP43.jpg

But then found a couple of trains in the middle of the desert and remembered how fun it was last time :chef:

LUVMYJP41.jpg

The motor looked big enough

LUVMYJP42.jpg

But was worried about the abilities of the driver :viking:

Ya know... Only Aussies can wear hats like that and get away with it...
I wear one and I instantly acquire a donkey and become Juan Fraggin Valdez!
valdes.jpg

I'm not even gonna tell ya what happens if I wear a "slicker"
:laugh2:

You just have to stop turning up the sides of the hat :laugh3:
Thats the way you guys wear them isn't? They used to here a while ago but the stockmen ( jackaroo's and jilleroo's if a chick ) started to have to get part of their ears cut off due to the sun exposure causing skin cancers there and on the side of the neck too!

Re: LUVMYJP Plate Tour 2004

The plate is in every picture BTW. It is a bit like where's Wally on some though ;)

Dude!!! Marcus, that's not the steering wheel.

Also, if I was your road foreman, I'd site you not having the proper PPE's (personal protective equipment), and you're not properly dressed. Shorts while running an engine??? :scared: Where's your bibs Mr. Engineer? :dunno:

Perfect gear for the 100*F temps :laugh3:
Like the flow through ventilation? Very state of the art this one. :)

These two locos were just left ( no rail about a 1000 kms either way ) after they moved the line about 50 miles futher west after this line kept getting destroyed from heat warpage on the rails and flash floods at other times. Most of the line just sits on sand! In all it's running life way back to the steam train era, it never once ran on time and being even a day late was considered normal and even expected. Have seen them do food drops from the air when it has been held up due to floods in the middle of the desert for a few weeks while full of passenges.

Re: LUVMYJP Plate Tour 2004

Well mister plate is heading off after a good look around and loving the adventure. Now he just has to choose how to get there.

LUVMYJP36.jpg

Thought about firing himself out of this but thought it just would not go far enough unles he embedded himself in a passing Qantas jet :exclamati

LUVMYJP34.jpg

Maybe this is the way to go and could drop into Iraq this way too?

LUVMYJP35.jpg

Now this is a way to go and make him the fastest plate on earth :laugh3:

LUVMYJP33.jpg

Hang on, bigger is always better isn't??

LUVMYJP37.jpg

But why stop there? Outer space is just a small leap from there.

LUVMYJP31.jpg

Still, a cruise would be nice too. :sunshine:

Re: LUVMYJP Plate Tour 2004

I bet it really sucks that your plate is having such an adventure, and your not.
