You can also do like Goatman and I have. Cut the bottom of your stock crossmember off and replace with 1/4" steel welded in. Significantly strengthens the cross member while gaining 1/2" or so clearance and keeps stock height for the tranny mount. Jeff

I've been looking around for quite a while for a crossmember without a built-in drop that would give more ground clearance, and couldn't find one so I was thinking of cutting off the bottom and doing what you describe here. Do you or Goatman or anybody else have information or pictures of this being done or the finished product? I bashed the bottom of mine pretty good yesterday so it's time to get serious about this finally. TIA.

Rusty's just so happens to have one on sale this week for $105
Just thought I would let you know.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Rusty's have 2 versions, both with stock clearance? One version has a 1" drop built-in and one doesn't.
