Just wondering what you midwesterners would pay for this beast. It's a 89 base auto 4-door with 174k on the clock, but it has a newer motor with 23k on it. The plus side is, it has the factory tow package with the D44 out back. The negative is, it is a 2-wheel drive. The body is in unbelievable shape for a midwest jeep. I currently have a 94 2-door 4x4 manual with a rusty body and front diff needs a rebuild that I was planning on working on this spring. I got it for cheap and I have a some 31s and a 3 in lift waiting to go on.

I was either thinking about buying the 89 and pulling all the good stuff off of it and reselling it or start building the 89.

What would you pay for it and what direction would you go in?

Buy it throw in a Dana 35 resell it.

Did you go to KBB.com and put in all the info and ask their DB?

I've become somewhat of a Jeep snob over the years. Unless that body is pristine and the price he sells it to you is dirt cheap, it isn't even worth the bother to change it to 4WD. XJs are so cheap in good condition.

Besides, if this is your first 4WD and you plan on doing some trail riding, don't start with a pristine rig. The first Jeep is the one that gets all the dents while you learn the ropes.

Thanks for the replys guys. I'll probablly just build my pos 94 just because it's my first build. Can't go wrong with a doorless 2 door with a manual. I have owned a 92 that I had to sell earlier in my life. If I get ambitious, I'll buy that 89 and pull the d44 off of it and sell it with a 8 and a quarter or d35.

Thanks again.
