Lock right vs. Detroit?

I'm looking into locking my front and rear. I've been wondering the differences between lock right and the detroit ez locker, or are they basically the same? Which one would you recommend and how do they behave on the street?

Lockright is a lunchbox locker. Detroit is full carrier locker (as in replaces your stock carrier). Anyways, I ran no slip (lunchbox locker which is supposed to be a lot bettered mannered on the street then lockright) and no I run a detroit and I like detroit much better.

Oops I just woke up and reread your question: you're talking about ezlocker. In that case I have no clue....

I've got the chrysler 8.25 axle and I didnt see an aussie locker for it. Are the aussie lockers better than the detroit ez locker and lock right?

I was told the rear is in production (29 spline) and will be shipping soon. I just did the front and can't wait to do the rear.

BTW, there is no tire size or horsepower limit for the Aussie.

There basically the same thing. I don't believe you can go wrong with either. I am running (if I remember right) dual ez's. I might be running one of each but either way they are both working wonderfully.--------Kyle

The EZlocker or Lockright or Aussie locker or Quiklock are all basically the same thing. Make you decision based on price and warrenty....they will all work the same.

yes basicly they are the same but there are minor differences. U know my aussie operates much smoother than a lockright in another xj.

You cant go wrong with the aussielocker warranty either!

yep, the only diff in the EZ and the lockright are the springs and pins.

Also strength and intended tire size when comparing a lunch box locker that used the stock carrier to a full locker that replaces the stock locker and gives you more beef.

Thanks for the replies and sorry to revive such an old thread but I'm planning on getting a "lunch box" locker for my XJ very soon and was doing a lot of searching on this site. I had found lots of comments about how this one is quieter than that one or this one lasts longer or is made better than that one. . . Then I come across Goatman's statement that they are all the same thing so it really doesn't matter.

I just find it a bit hard to believe that four very distinct companies produce products so close together that they are considered the "same thing" by a group with as diverse of opinions as NAXJA. BUT, I'll believe you. Three of them seem to be priced about the same (Aussie, Lockright, and EZ) but the Quickloc seems to be about $20.00 cheaper. If they are the same thing and same quality, I guess I'll go that way.

FYI this is for my Dana 30 with 31" tires and RE 3.5 lift.

Thanks,
clay

Dont get the quicklock.. i have had 2 friends break one.. its the worst of them all!

Rawbrown got me a nice quote for an EZ locker so I will probably go that way.

If I re-gear, with the D30 I believe I'll need a new carrier. Does the same locker fit in both carriers?

Yes... as long as it IS an open carrier and NOT a track-loc carrier.
