I have a 1984 cj-7 that I would like to trade for either a set of xj rears w/4.56's or 4.88's or for someone to regear my current xj w/4.88's
I think this is a great deal for a person looking to build up a CJ-7

ok for info on the jeep

1984 cj-7 w/no title ( i have a title but i never regestered it im my name after I bought thr jeep)

Mechanical

4cy at the least it needs a carb ( i bought it without one, although I did put a webber on it and drove it im my driveway, it ran rough probably due to bad gas and a need of a tune up but I cant be sure that is all it needs)

4 spd trans (worked well when I had the jeep running)

no t-case (pulling working dana 300 out, may include for right trade)

good 20 rear and dana 30 with good hubs (not sure on gearing)

Frame & Body

all instuments seem to work, tilt steering

seats are ok but do not match

Frame has surface rust but is very solid

Body tub is bad, hood and grill are good

Suspension/ wheels and tires

3/33" bfg at's 50% tread on aftermarket aluminum rims
1/33" generic at brand new on matching rim

1 1/2"-2 1/2" (not sure) rancho lift springs and shocks

So tempting, but the wife says no more projects.

anyone else?? I know this would be a great deal someone who has a set of regeared xj rears just sitting around (d35 c/non c clip, 8.25, d30 any thing that will bolt into my xj) or know how to set up gears...

thanks for looking

Steve

There's a U-pull in Pine Hill that usually has a few XJ's, you might find a 4-cyl or 2.8 that would have 4.10 gears in it. Then you could sell the CJ outright and be ahead of the game.

I have seen people run a 'set' of front axles, thus having 4 wheel steer.
What is you plan with a 'set' of XJ rears?
0 wheel steer?
Drag jeep with cutting brakes?
Inquiring minds, ya know?

In a 4wd a "rear" is either a front or rear axle I am loking for 1 rear axle and 1 front axle

-Mark..thanks for the advise on the Junkyard (I have been there a few times) but this is a trail only jeep and I run 34x10.5's on a webber carbed 4 banger with 3.73's right now and I think I need at least the 4.56's and would realy like to have 4.88's
But on a side note I would also be willing to trade for a 21 splined 231 with a 4-1 low kit in it (does not even have to have a sye)
