Lift install

Sorry I had to duck out early guys, the wife rules my life.

It was really cool meeting you guys and checking out Tim's MANsion of a garage.

Josh I hope you didn't have to call the tow truck.

Chad I need to see some flex.

Sorry I missed it, I woulda been there, but i haven't logged on here for a couple of months. Hibernating and snowboarding. Also saving money for some early springtime upgrades to be ready for the summer runs.

I want to say thanks to everyone who showed up and helped out. I was very impressed at how smoothly things went. I think we installed the springs, shocks, discos, stock skid (needed some drilling and tapping), and relocated the front brake lines in about 4 hours. I seriously appreciate the help and Tim for hosting the party. Having all the right tools makes things so much easier! I aspire to have a garage like Tim's someday. :)

The ride is great and I didn't have any strange noises or vibrations on the way home. I'll be giving it a freeway test on my drive to Redwood City today.

I'll remeasure the lift and see if it has leveled out at all because it was sitting at ~2" in the rear and 3" in the front when we first set it back on it's tires. I am thinking some MJ shackles will solve that though. :) And of course, I'll have to post some pictures of the lift.

Thanks again to everyone who came out!

@american_zero
If you still looking for a zj tie rod, the PnP in north San Jose has three v8 zj's with tie rods. When I looked at them this morning they looked ok from a quick visual inspection.

Pics or it didnt happen :D

Thanks for the heads up on the tie rods. I can't make it out today though but maybe next weekend. If anyone is headed to the yard, I would buy a zj setup from you if you pulled it.

Nah. I like these rims. :) Time to wash the jeep. Pics after.

@Josh -- Did you guys get the cam position sensor replaced after I took off on Saturday? Did it resolve your issues? I hope you got it running better before you left that day.

The CPS changed out pretty easily, unfortunately after I reset the ECU it started running even worse. I had to limp it home on city streets and it wants to stall unless I floor it or let it idle - from 5% throttle to 90% throttle it just wants to die. I'm hoping that it is the camshaft sensor in the distributor (note: called the pick-up coil in all the auto parts stores). I got code P1391 which is either the crank sensor or the cam sensor. Unfortunately the cam sensor is a hard-to-find part and I had to order it online. Hope it shows up soon - it is basically un-drivable right now.

Glad that your lift and poomero's issues were solved pretty easily.

I was there when you swapped out the crank position sensor and it started running worse. I was hoping you were able to get that cam position sensor in before you left that day and that it would solve your issues. Too bad the local stores didn't have stock. Let me know if that fixes things. Nothing worse than chasing sensor or electrical issues.

I finally got it running again. The replacement CPS that I got from Autozone was bad. Got a new one from the dealership ($135!!!!!) and she is purring like a kitten again. Note to self - don't buy crappy sensors from Autozone.

That sucks! But at least it's running good again. And I think the Jeep is usually a no-start for most CPS failures, so a little luck there too.
