Hello! This is my first time here. I had a question about replacing my rear suspension.
I have a 2000 XJ, and several years ago I used a Pro-Comp kit from 4 Wheel Parts to lift it. I am almost certain it was a 3" kit. The kit included replacement coil springs for the front and add-a-leafs for the rear as well as all the other necessary parts.
The add-a-leafs never really got the rear high enough, likely because the leaf springs were blown out, so I added two rear spring shackle mounts as well to get the rear end higher and even with the front.
I am at the point now where I feel like the rear suspension needs to be replaced. It just cant handle much weight in the vehicle and there is hardly even a bend in the leaf springs when they are at rest. They are basically just flat. I would like to replace them, but was unsure what to do since I added a leaf to the stock springs. Should I replace with stock and add the leaf in? Keep the shackles? Should I buy a completely different spring? Should I get a coil spring conversion kit?
I should add that I am planning on keeping the same lift height, I am not wanting to replace any of the front, and I cannot lift it more than it originally was as I maxed out the brake hoses and don't want to have to deal with replacing those right now either.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
