My family is coming to Lake City in July and I am wondering what the best trails in Lake City or very close by. Also currently my inlaws are renting a couple jeeps for Engineers Pass and Cinnamon Pass. How built would you think a xj needs to be for those?

Stock :) Honestly - a Stock Jeep would run just about everything in the Area. Poughkeepsie Gulch would give you a little trouble.

My wife and I took her 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee v-6 up Engineer and up to A-Basin a few years ago in July (we go to lake city for the 4th every year) with no issues at all. Honestly I would have fun taking a 2wd 4 cyl up....that would be a challenge lol. This year we will be taking my Cherokee so I intend to have some fun!

We are going down for the 4th this year. Staying in Silverton. I am trying to talk the wife into letting me take the XJuggy (way overkill, but still a ton of fun).

I actually am lifting my jeep this week with a 4inch iron rock offroad long arm lift. So I am guessing i will have no problem with that and 31x10.5.

redbeard - you should be fine - again Poughkeepsie, may give you some issues (but you don't need to go that way and if I remember correctly there is a bypass)

dark92 - for sure, would be cool to meet up and have a couple of beers. My buddy is bringing his Early Bronco.

33s with some trimming would be perfect :)

Do the Alpine loop, Cinnamon and Engineer's pass, first. Be sure to stop at WOAH! point. It is the best view in CO, maybe the US, if you like mountains.

Here's a view from the point:

Early bronco??? My dad has a sweet 67 6" lift and 35's too bad it's in Texas

I think it is a 72?? It is on 35s - he is doing a trail restore on it. It looks great. And I am still working on the wife to let me take mine.... LOL If not it will be the bone stock 2009 Grand Cherokee (see even a bone stock not so much jeep, jeep, will make it down there)....

Just so you have an idea - I ran 35" Xterrains on the Stock Dana 30 and 8.25 - with a 6.5" Clayton Long Arm. Before that I ran 37" MTRs on a stock Dana 30 and 44 - with a 4" Skyjacker short arm kit. Never broke anything :) It is all about the skinny pedal usage :)
