So who is planning on going? I got "permission" to go as long as the wife does not have a business trip.

I will most likely go the day before the race, Feb 10, and come back on the 12th.

Race day is Feb 11.

Who is coming with me!

You might want to get down there before that for the Last Chance Qualifier races:

I have heard lots of talk about charging admission and spectator areas, after the crazy stuff from the last few years. Also talk of the race will be laps.

Still when I was down there for the 2009 race it was one of the best times with lots of crazy people:

I would not want to be sleeping in a tent for that one, plan to sleep in your jeep or motor home.

I would like to get down for the LCQ but who knows. I also figured a tent would be a bad idea and I do not have a motor home. I am fine sleeping in the jeep...

So who has a motor home and is coming with me? :D

There are some SEC guys hoping to come out that way. Im curious to why you wouldn't recommend sleeping in a tent? Cali wont let me bring my pistol. :(

well it gets pretty cold out there, well cold for us out here. :looser:

Also with the amount of people and how crowded it will be it would only be a matter of time before some drunk ass fell on the tent or jacked my stuff.

When I lived in So. Cal and would go to Glamis I would always sleep in the bed of the truck.

In 2009 there was a large group in the center of the lake bed singing very bad karaoke till midnight on Saturday night!

The wind can get NUTS that time of year, goggles just standing outside:

The amount of people is NUTS, driving every kind of car/jeep/bike/thing at all hours of the day and night.

If you are going to tent, I would bring a big tent, and a solid tent, and ear plugs, and camp in a large group, and watch out for the kangaroo rats and scorpions and always keep the tent zipped up! Always!!!!

I don't care too much about being charged admission, but I hope it doesn't mean long lines getting on site.

Thanks for the info. I don't mind paying a little but also hope it doesn't muck things up. Sounds like it will have a min impact on the event but will benefit the deserts, which is great.
