When my Jeep was stolen, the reporting officer said one of two things would happen.
1. End up burned out up in the mountains
2. Down south of the boarder with a couple keys of green stuffed in the back
Ended up being found off Federal ~3 days later.
Thieves stole the CAI filter and tube, and my 10 year old North Face jacket and $3 in coins.
If I were you, I would take a day to cruise the surrounding neighborhoods and some around Federal and see what you find. Check the alleys and side streets, and remember to not get shot! Mine was found parked legally in front of a house by a attentive officer who noticed the rear window broken out at 3am on a Saturday night.
Good luck, I know how you feel.![]()
Matt, did your insurance company end up paying out to you enough to get everything fixed?
You definitely had rough luck in that...but silver lining being that at least you got it back and it wasn't completely destroyed.
It's amazing what people will steal. Hell, Hal Frost's Comp Buggy was stolen (and much much later miraculously found somewhat intact) for christ's sake. My two biggest fears with my buggy are theft, and fire. I can take many a counter measure against fire (which BELIEVE me I am)...but theft you can only do so much. This is why the buggy will NEVER sit on the street either on the trailer or parked. I'm just way too paranoid (even in Fort Collins) of it being stolen. Seems like someone wouldn't be so dumb as to steal something SO visible and one-off...but no one said thieves are bright.
Buddy of mine some of you might know (Wally on CO4x4) had his tires slashed while his rig was just sitting on the trailer

Hope you are able to get your rig back...or at least a check to cover most of it from insurance.
