Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

well, since its getting late and everyone else seems to have parted i shall do the same

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

hopefully soon ill have enough parts to start my OBA!!

basically all i need is a tank, oiler, air/oil separator and some misc barbs and clamps!

FYI... To source a tank, see if you can find a tractor trailer junkyard. Tractor trailers have LOTS of little aluminum pressure tanks for things like the air brakes, accumulators and such. Many of them are very small too, maybe 1-4gals in size. See if you can find one around 2 gals.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

looked on ebay, holy crap prices went up on air tanks... I saw one 3Gal for 48. Theres a 5 Gal for 30 (+20 shipping)but thats a big tank.

theyre asking 70 for Aluminum tanks like I have. Yikes.

Work is slow with the economy and such, so I do have weeks where I have off... I dont mind :)

I dont weld anymore ...I'm a parts guy. Recieve and issue crap to job orders. On occation I weld small stuff if they get backed up. Gives me a reason to use my 300$ auto tint welding helmet

But yeah its nice to have access to the steel and welders, I can make stuff... sorta behind the scenes.

"Oh yeah this is for that machine over there" :spin1:

Keith (MDXJ) went to a yard down near him and scored like 3 or 4 of these 2 gal. aluminum tanks a few years ago. They were rated at something like 150psi, plenty of pressure for an OBA, and they were stupid cheap. Maybe $10/ea if that. He gave me one, but I ended up giving it to another friend of mine. That was BEFORE I built the MJ, I kick myself now for giving it away, as I could have used it for the air system in the MJ. Not sure where the yard was that he went to, but it was down in the DE/MD area somewhere. Drop him a PM, I am sure he could fill you in on where to go.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

I went to bed before the flaming started :wierd:...
I had no idea that he was driving a TJ. I can see never using a/c on a TJ.

 Yeaah I agree. I think OBA is the way to go for him. Not me though, I love me some 70 degree cold air when then temp is 100 :D

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

I think im gonna go with this one will it be to small or does it really matter???

idk if it really matters that much.. with the limited space you have it might be a good size.. im gonna go for the 2.5 gallon viair. unless i find this tractor trailor junkyard :eyes:
