Ok, I think that there needs to be a clear understanding of issues:
1. Area
2. Trail leaders

When we run out of trail leaders because folks don't always want to volunteer then that does not make an area BAD.
And fact that there is no trail leaders for a trail would be along the lines of poor planning or a snafu rather then DENYING....... Moving the event will not solve the problem of trail leaders just relocate it......

Clearly what you have thought has not taken the chapter to the level it needed to be and you failed 4 years in a row. Time for a different administration.

As I told the wife, trying new things is a great idea

Why do you feel the need to bring back members and users who left by their own account?

What do you plan on doing in order to keep equality amongst the members? i.e the content of the post, moderation of certain users/members over others, personal attacks, conduct on official trail runs

What do you plan on doing to address the issue of sub-groups alienating themselves? As far as I know, this is one club - NAXJA, not a mother club of smaller clubs.
As I feel that I've already answered the first two questions I will address the third.

I feel that there were ALWAYS subgroups in this chapter, long before anybody actually started NAMING themselves a different chapter. This should have been address long ago and never was. The OC guys, Buggy guys, etc being a perfect example. I'd like to bring understanding back first and foremost, of other types of rigs. This way, instead of taking the approach of "You're in another 'subgroup' you're not welcome here" attitude, we can instead bring them back into our family and make them feel less like they even NEED a sub group. They will diminish on their own if we make NAXJA better.

1) Area? is it hard to find somewhere for a stocker .. .. in big bear?

2) ok. then the chapter leadership needs to provide the stock runs or skip going on harder ones to lead them themselves.

A (at that time) naxja member 'maz' was told by Rabbit "You shouldn't go on our reasy run, your rig isnt built enough."

Then the easy run was not easy enough. Leadership problem.

You mean like SoCalFest 2009 where stockers were told "I am sorry, we don't have A run for you? You shouldnt be here."

MY FATHER had to lead a stock run in his JK, with Mike Rollins, because our chapter leadership DENIED THEM AT THE DOOR.

That musta been on Sunday cause MJR ran with me and me only on Saturday (sorry Mike didn't mean to drag you into this)

That or it was 2008, which is more likely now that I think about it.

Same leaders. Same fail.

ABSOLUTELY.

Big Bear is an outreach program. Yeah we can have fun there but the stockers are 90% of teh reason it happens!

Stockers and newbies are our bread and butter (hi James!). As long as work doesn't screw me over again like it did the last two years I'll gladly lead a stocker Big Bear run if needed!

Ok... I'm done for now. I have not voted yet and I had questions for Jim but I seem to be stuck in a MASH episode where Henry was asking Burns questions and Hot Lips kept interjecting....

This is where it is on the most senior event coordinator to bail out of whatever harder run he is doing and lead the stockers on their run. As a group leader you don't just continue on with what you WANT to do and let the poor little stockers go away, you could EASILY find somebody to lead a harder run as a real leader.

I'm curious Jim, what group do you see me being a part of?

MASH??? What the hell is that! :piratefla

Is hot lips me or avery?

he does have really hot lips.

just ask my cat

I don't really know you very well, but you seem not to identify yourself with any clique so much as meet each group you encounter on their own level; and I hope to cultivate that in our membership as a whole.

Damn when are you running for public office?

What do you know about USFS route designations and BLM land use designations?

Have you ever officially submitted comments to a lead agency in regards to land use planning or route designation? Or do you just DGAS?

I thought I was Spear Chucker Jones.

Remi would clearly be RADAR.

Well Stephan, I do in fact give a !@#$ about our land use and more importantly it's planning. However unfortunately I'm relatively ignorant on most fronts and currently rely on the land use forum here and the BRC action list to keep me in the know, something I intend to improve upon.

I also occasionally check the PBB land use letter generator but find it severely lacking at times as well, almost as much as my knowledge on the subject ;). I am however passionate about where I offroad and work HARD to keep them open, from cleaning up trash to staying on designated routes. Fortunately the places I frequent most are mostly open, with a few closures I'm well versed on. And as recent as yesterday I attended a clean up in Barstow, a successful one at that where we left with 6 dumpsters full of trash and two trailers full of tires.

As a chapter president I would LOVE to have meetings, be it monthly, or more realistically quarterly, where we can discuss things like this. Where someone such as yourself could educate myself, along with the rest of the chapter here on our land use and what we need to be mindful of. I would also ABSOLUTELY love to see chapter sponsored clean up events, at different locations. I would also like to see more of our chapter members motivated to look in on our "Adopt-a-Trail" program. I rode up to big bear with Cal and that the two of us together couldn't even find the adopt a trail. Probably for the better though because Cal would have rolled on it ;)

What do you intend on doing about the "overlooked" safety requirements for official NAXJA runs? For every official trail run I've been on, no one has inspected any vehicle to make sure they met NAXJA's minimum safety requirements.

Do you feel that those safety requirements should be over looked??

Cal, again...the only chapter BOD person there was me and I did NOT deny any stockers. I still want to know who said that....
