Jim Marlar aka "CrazyJim"

Jim: Here I have to question your understanding of the problem as so far you've not shown that you do.

Huh?? I have a feeling that you are very much at a loss when it comes to understanding what happens in this chapter which brings to question your understanding of why people left NAXJA. I'm scratcing my head now and I'm trying to figure out who in the chapter was removed from power....... If you refer to me loosing moderating rights I don't see that as being removed from power and if you see moderation as power then that's a whole new problem IMHO. Anyways, outside of that, nothing else comes to my mind.

Remi, you have every right to question my understanding, and I'm sure your vote will reflect that. Happy voting!

The original question was in reference to moderation .. he worded that poorly but hit the answer on the head.

Great question!

Let's address both of those places at the same time. Where can I, a newbie with a 2" budget boost on 30" tires, go to watch some action over in JV or Big Bear? Can I follow you guys and watch you go through the hammers? Can I follow you guys and watch you tackle John Bull without having to hike back to my rig when you guys finish and drive back to camp myself?
With a 2" budget boost on stock tires with rails you can go on ANY trail in Big Bear. I know cause I"ve done it myself and I"ve led folks through I think all so called TOUGH Big Bear trails. So.... try again?

Last time out at JV how many people went to the sand dune? Show of hands?
Did someone volunteer to lead a run to the sand dune? Show of hands?

I like Truckhaven because I can follow along in my bone stock XJ and go park, and WATCH people get crazy and ooh and ahhh like everybody else does. That's why I think we should broaden our horizons! :yelclap:
Hmmmm...... "I like"? Don't you think that there should not have been "I like" in the statement about chapter event? Chapter event is not all about one person...... There is no "I" in NAXJA :)

My advice to them... get over yourselves. If you're the old guy, you were once a new guy. If you're the new guy, you're going to be an old guy if you don't let them run you off first!
This alone is a good enough reason for me to vote for you Jim!!

I was going to challenge you by seeing what you could do to bring the go fast and rock crawl crowd together at least for an event, but you seem to have answered that with Truck haven..

:) So.... lets go back to the orignal question: what's wrong with Big Bear and JV for chapter events???

Option A: have 33's and tear your *stuff* up or 35's and run easy-moderate trails.

Option B: play on a sand dune and drive on dirt roads.

Jim never said stop having events in those locations. He suggested doing more chapter level stuff in other locations as well.

I personally wouldn't feel comfortable running John Bull on a 2" BB with 31's, and you shouldn't have either from what I've heard. I like my rock rails ;)

Did you?

Sure don't, as much as you may dislike it, "I" am still a member of NAXJA and will put my opinion in where it counts. "I" as a president will also listen to our chapter members and their wants/needs.

JV not so much, Big bear focuses on only one group of Naxja.

Why not mix it up.. why does it have to be Big Bear and JV forever....

You mean like SoCalFest 2009 where stockers were told "I am sorry, we don't have A run for you? You shouldnt be here."

MY FATHER had to lead a stock run in his JK, with Mike Rollins, because our chapter leadership DENIED THEM AT THE DOOR.

This attitude right here is one of the reasons I did not renew my membership. Jim knows why people are leaving, Tony, me and a bunch others are the ones who gave him his first lift, helped put it on, hooked him up with smokin deals to mod his jeep bigger, better, faster. Then people have a crappy attitude here towards people pointing out what doesn't work and bashing non-crawlers and new guys. I have wheeled with over 2 dozen different NAXJA members easy and have never seen Remi, Robert and a few other out there.

I know when I started here every NAXJA event said "must have recovery points front and rear, rock rails, blah blah blah. No one ever said what a valid recoevery point is so I never went out. Just so you know, I have found out that my front axle is a better point than a front tow hook (ask me how I ripped the hook out of the "frame" pulling someone in the snow). One of the best times I ever had at an event was SoCalXJ at Truckhaven because I could drive my BB XJ and watch Cal and Rick and a bunch of others do amazing stuff.

What is your policy about drunk polish people hanging around campfires with a handgun in view?

Also, I think back to the almost bi-weekly M&G's at Grants shop. Everyone seemed to get along better because we actually saw eachother in person....face to face not web-wheeling internet tough guying it.

Ok, I think that there needs to be a clear understanding of issues:
1. Area
2. Trail leaders

When we run out of trail leaders because folks don't always want to volunteer then that does not make an area BAD.
And fact that there is no trail leaders for a trail would be along the lines of poor planning or a snafu rather then DENYING....... Moving the event will not solve the problem of trail leaders just relocate it......
