4 of my last 5 vehicles have come from out of state. Californian's that have a 4x4 think they have something special and they always jack up the price. My suzuki sx4 is 4x4 and I looked all over cali for one and every time I found one it was 2-3k over blue book. I finally started looking in the Vegas and Phoenix area and found one just under blue book. My TJ, Land Cruiser, Bronco, and my wifes 2nd explorer ALL came from Arizona or Nevada. Arizona actually has a higher car sales tax so when I bought my Suzuki in Phoenix and brought it to the DMV they acutally owed me money since I overpaid in taxes, but then they added the state transfer fee and tag fees in and I immediately handed them back the money plus some more cash. Since I STILL can't afford a built JK I will probably be going back into another FJ80 cruiser in the next couple years and my plan is to soley look out of state. The nice/low miles FJs in SoCal or WAAAAAY overpriced. The same model with same mileage in Phoenix is half the cost. One thing I always do is my homework. I get the vin before I fly in and check the history/car fax. I also have them send me a CRAP load of pics. I also have them fim the engine running so I can somewhat here how it sounds. Most of the time they are willing. If they are not, then I know something is wrong with the car. Two of my last out of state cars were from dealers. They tend to be more willing and reputable. They sent a shuttle to pick me up at the air port. The dealer I bought my Suzuki from even had the driver pick me up lunch before we headed to the dealer. Long story short. Don't be afriad of out of state cars.
