Is there such a thing as a web site dedicated to the 4.7 V8? Something like jeepstrokers.com but just for the 4.7?

I'm looking for examples of engine that have been built up, anecdotal maintenance histories, that sort of thing.

Thx.

IIRC, when I had my dakota and frequented the dakora-durango forums that they had an engine-specific sub-category.

Check out Allpar.com, the JeepsUnlimited WJ site & WJJeeps.com
The short of it is this:
The 4.7 makes torque as well or better than the 4.0. The HO has different heads, intake manifold, air intake, cams and maybe some other bits. All of that is good for ~30 HP & ft-lbs. You can hot-rod the standard 4.7 with the usual bolt-ons and get close to the HO horsepower level though you'd be increasing the interior noise level a fair bit, too. For me that is a dealbreaker. I like the WJ's quiet.
Don't overheat them. Ever. The 4.7's will drop a valve seat pretty reliably when they get hot. Along these lines, you have to bleed the cooling system of air when you service the cooling system. It's not hard but it's absolutely necessary.
There's only the one company I'm aware of making cams for these engines. I don't know much about them. Find their stuff here.
I've got a WJ w/ 4.7 and it feels faster than the XJ for sure, despite the weight of the WJ.
