Jeep 2500 Parts... I found them here...

Well I've been talking to to Jane at Alex and got a good price list in US dollars and a shipping cost to US (Seattle). Here is the stuff I'm ordering.

Headlights $26.35/ea
Fog Lights $6.52/ea
Bumper Corners F $4.33/ea
Bumper Corners R $3.69/ea
Front Bumper $8.53
Water Proof $32.05/set
Flairs F $6.87/ea
Flairs R $8.68/ea
Grill Insert $7.61
Grill Surround $26.24

Total $187.31 for the parts.
Shipping by sea to Seattle is $230 regular or $265 for (30 day).
I forgot about the fenders so I'll pop an e-mail off to them. I guess they still need to picked up in Seattle but thats better than the other coast... atleast for us on this side. Here is the only thing hanging me up is the way they want to do the payment, they requested Western Union but I've always been skeptcal (sp) of using them?

So, what is the "water proot" that they have listed on the other price list? It looks like you ordered the "water proof", I take it that that is the same thing. What is it?:dunno:

It's the lower door panels. I only got it so the fender flair's trim would flow into it. If that makes any sense.

Thats what I thought it was, but from the thumbnail I couldn't quite tell. What was the contact info you have for getting the parts, looks like your making some progress and I'm getting eager to give my old heep a facelift.

So a few questions...how did you get ahold of them, email, phone, other? Also, will they ship to just you or is there a minimum order number like they were giving us. If they'll just do individual shipping, I'll order a set too, I just need to know how to get ahold of them.

All communication was done with email. I'm going to order just what was posted in my earlier post. They never said that I needed to make a minimum order. I would like to get some more stuff tossed in with my order to lighten up the shipping cost. So if anybody want to go in on it let me know and I can get it put on the order. But I'm a little worried about taking other peoples money for the items and something goes wrong... you know. I cant see why it would but you never know with things like this. I bet it would take 30+ days to arrive in port to Seattle, but I wouldn't have a problem going over to get them. Once they are back here I could send them out UPS or something like that. They don't have the fenders so we would have to source them from somebody else. The one thing I did notice is that they (the fenders) are the pre 97 style not the rounded style of the newer ones. So if you were to use the grill header piece with the 97-01 fenders there might need to be a little body work involved to get the lines right. But that's really not a big deal because you are going to cut them up a bit to get the headlight to fit. Or go and get some junkyard pre 97 fenders and use them.
Here is the email addy of the contact at Alex Parts;
"Jane Shi" alexparts2 (at) gmail (dot) com

You need to fill out the customer information document before they will quote you a price. Jane said she would take care of all the customs crap at the time of shipping. My prices were alittle different than the ones that were posted before..... might be a quanity thing, the more the cheaper. Anyhow there is really no weight to this stuff so if we could spread the shipping cost out to a few other people it might be easier then all of us spending $230+ in shipping.
Drop me a email if you have any more questions

This would be for a complete vehicle without engine. Buy it, ship it here, drop in a 4.0 and add an AW4/NP231 or your choice of engine/tranny combo and you've got a brand new (I think) Jep 2500 for the States. I'm sure there'd be some way to get it titled and register as say a 96 Cherokee Sport 4dr 4x4 if the vehicle you're sourcing parts from is said vehicle (like mine is). Another option out there. One I'd consider if I had money...:D

Chris, I will go in on your order with you. Please let me know before you're going to do it and I'll paypal you if you think it sounds legit.

Sent you an email.

I'll wait until the end of the week to see if we can get a few more people in on this to lighten up the shipping burden. I will send Alex Parts an updated order form with all the stuff on it then I will contact each of you back with the information. I still hate the thought of paying someone in China for parts with Western Union...... I just want to say that I don't mind doing all this stuff but in the end I can't be held responsible if something goes fishy. What worries me is what if something comes in broken or damaged, but I can give Mrs. Shi a call and see what our options are on that. So I'm looking for the begining of next month for the order and figure about 30+ days slow boat from China :)

Be very careful guys. One thing that really jumps out at me is that the contact at AlexParts uses a gmail account. I've been doing alot of reading over at 419eater.com and this plus the Western Union requirement is sending up all kinds of red flags.

I think I'll hold off until I hear back from you guys that you received the parts in good working order.

I am still working on setting up an import channel. The problem has not been finding someone to get the goods out of china... the difficulty is finding a responsible party to receive the goods in Seattle, clear customs, and re-ship nationwide to the purchasing parties. Sounds like some other guys have finally had some success contacting Alexparts directly, but I would sure be asking how the U.S. end is supposed to work - if the goods are not correctly received and passed through customs, it is my understanding that the fines can be substantial. I am hoping to make a small business of this, so I'll keep you all up to date as we make progress, and I'll keep an eye on this tread to see if others have success too!

If I was closer to the coast, I'd be willing to look into it and receive shipments in LA. I know they've got a port there as well. I was actually thinking along the same lines, start up a small import business for 2500 parts and maybe expand into other cars later if it takes off...

I would love to get some of these parts. I will keep checking this thread as this all gets worked out. I would be very leary about sending money Western Union overseas. I would love to help out, but I live in the middle of TN, so nowhere near a coast. Would be great if the parts could be flown in.

How can these things be sold in China for under $13k, but they were over $20k in the U.S. new?

Still using a lot of parts from the 84-96 XJs, cheaper Chinese labor, no union contracts ;), etc

Mind you, the prices I have are for the vehicle minus engine.

I've been trying to get replies alsofrom a bunch of people, finally got the same reply as you guys first from someone named Kingco ; Then today from Jane.

BonesBrosChris : I'll You join your group buy for 2 front clips +_sets of tail lights and see how everything comes full circle:roll: . I will pm ya'
Thank for taking this on
Guess I have gambled more @ a casino :wierd: so I'll go for it:D

In the mean time. xj-grin : I'm trying to figure out the logistics of shipment to Long Beach and /or
Straight to the Port of Ensenada Baja Mx . via a custom broker that takes care of such for Assembly plants / factories that import their Materials "in bond" and receive them at both ports.
I'll provide updates of such.

Best regards to All.

I am ready to buy at $200 for the front end parts(any idea on the cost of the fenders?).

My only question is the shipping cost. If my contribution to purchase the front end parts puts the total cost to get my parts stateside at $300 or less(read $200 for parts, $100 to get mine shipped stateside). I will commit to buy.

If we have enough people to lower the cost to get them shipped stateside I may be willing to commit to purchasing 2 sets.

now if the parts arrive in seattle who will be available to redistribute them from seattle?

If I forget to check in before the end of the week please send me a reminder email or IM

thanks
-sam
