Burnt gear oil from the welded diff.

Soooo, uhhh...is the diff welded because you stuck the stinger in there or is it welded because your Yota buddy set your gears up for you?
party1:

Josh has finally seen this thread and he is offended. Josh officially challenges your XJ against his Toyota. Josh says his welded exo will outlast your sissy unibody and there's nothing wrong with my sexy welded D44.

PS What the hell is a stinger?

Josh says a smilie face is rec'd and Josh has a bigger PP than all of you.

Tell Josh he is welcome to wheel (that's Yota-speak for "being towed up an easy trail by a glorified station wagon") with us any time. :D

i might be able to make it out if im not workin

I'm glad to see all the interest! So far the group looks like:

Me
Tim (T&A-XJ)
Phil (ECKSJY)
Michael (2xtreme)
John M. (Avanteone)
Eli (12GaugeXJ)
Hans (XJourney)
Ian (Slacker87XJ)
Pat (Pathatten)
Paul (mud1059)
Jason (Comanchekid)
Jeremy (Megawatt)
Cody (GreenbeltXJ)

This is more people than I had anticipated, and depending on who actually makes it, we may divide into two groups. We'll see as the date nears. If anyone knows they're not going to be able to make it, please let me know as soon as you can.

Thanks!

I went up to Evans yesterday with a good friend, after some shooting on the logging roads in Wilkeson, and it was somewhat slick and sloppy/muddy after that short rain we had. Should be good in late OCT. The Mazda was on street tires(open both ends too), I never aired down, and we just messed around on a few simple things. Hope you don't mind a few pics Matt.

I am stuck at work.
Your name is in the "I couldn't figure out if I can go or not and/or I don't know if I will have a locker in time" category. And we have too many trucks now. You're welcome to come and ride along if someone has a spare seat, though. It looks like James (XJLaredo) will be joining us the same way.

When was the last time NAXJA rolled out with 15 rigs other than a NWF? Hell, we could have 3 groups that way Ian can start out leading in the first group and finish not too far back of the last group at every trail. :D

Also, keep in mind of the body damage. That should ween a few out. If you read my other post about cleanups (should be near the top) those trails were run dry last time and Matt was the only one without damage. If it's going to be muddy (it will) then everyone will damage something (unless they're sssllllloooooooow) and some very extensively...look at me. The trails are only going to get more torn up in the mud.

Most of the people on the list have been to Evans in inclement conditions enough to know the risks (we ran it last October, too) or have enough armor to be okay...or they just don't care.

I'm assuming that there will be some drop-outs by the time of the event; I'm betting we'll have 10 trucks in all. A group that size, with the experience level being as high as it is, we should be okay in one group. We'll see. Whatever the case, it should be fun!

At least you can actually drive your XJ on the street...legally. :D

Who the hell would want to do that? All bulbs are in place, there's just no housing for some of them... and no mudflaps, and the angles from the bottom of the wheel well to the axle are out of spec, and the flares required would be too wide, and the bumpers are too high, and there's a front plate in the windshield instead of the bumper, and no mirrors. I think that's it though
