I would like to ask all of ppl that are not in the gulf coast area of Tx to keep us in your thoughts as we go through this storm. My line of work calls for me to stay so I am not going any where.

Wish us luck!

Good Luck, Midian! Check your PM's, I sent my number. If the family needs a safe haven further north, give me a shout.

Good luck, be safe!

Hey man, look at the positive side. WE'VE GOT JEEPS!

I've over here in Katy, so no storm surge. Hopefully you're 126 feet up as well. Watching and polishing the AK47 :D

Not much use against a 15 ft tidal surge.

My daughter and I hightailed it out of Houston about 5 pm yesterday after finishing with boarding up the windows. Staying at my Sisters in Austin today. My son stayed a friends near the Galleria area and my other daughter and her other, stayed near Hobby airport. Every one seems to high and dry and OK, but it seems that most of Houston has lost power all the way to the Galleria area.

I had a web cam setup at my house when I left to remote monitor the house, but either the UPS died or the internet went down at about 11:45 pm last night.

Hope the rest of you weathered (pun :laugh3:) the storm OK.

From what I heard this storm made history as far as the length of the storm search goes.

Oh, and if you live north or NE of us, Ike is heading your way now.

Former Houstonian monitoring the storm all day (living in Chicago, but I still have family & friends there). Here's what I know: The coast SE of Houston is the worst. Rumor has it that Baytown (due east on I-10, about 30 min from downtown) will be without power for up to 3 weeks! It's gonna take a LONG time to get 5 million people power. Good luck to everyone down there & God bless!

From what I heard Ike is or was in Chicago today flooding everything up there now.

Some people in West Houston and Pasadena have power now. We are staying in Austin one more night, as it was flooding from more rain (8 inches in a few hours) on the inbound I-10 & I-45 freeways this morning in Houston (According the HCOEM online rain gauges) and online news.

Getting gas (power for gas station pumps and gas) is going to be problematic for a while.

Some neighbors tell me our homestead is still standing, but I don't have a complete picture yet. Lots of downed trees.

Houston has a declared a curfew starting today until next Saturday, from 9 pm to 6 am. That should be interesting.
