Is the Koran a 'holy' book?

Cal: I did read that before you reposted it. I see what you are saying but you also assumed that i agree with what our founding fathers did. Maybe we should have fought the british "civily" Dont assume things next time.

I didn't assume anything. You stated you don't approve of them doing what your forfathers did, because we're "better" than they are.

When the tables were turned, american's were no better. We took our advantage where we could find it, and they are doing the same.

We killed the innocent, when does the security come in? Its been 62.5 years and we're still "living in terror" according to our own govt.

We havnt killed all of them i suppose. I may sound brash, but its true i suppose.
And cal, i think were fighting the same side here, I never said i approved of what the founding fathers did. Nor do i think that anyone is better than me. The only thing i did say was that i didnt approve of how they were fighting.
Just because Americans do it, doesnt make it right.

Maybe my outlook is flawed, but people do believe in the book (any book) (the same as the flag) and many people have died for it. Disrespecting the book or the flag, IMO us like pissing on their graves.
A few things make us different from most animals, we often bury our dead with some sort of ceremony, we often grieve for extended periods.
It's not just respect, it is deeper than that, in most people.
Vandal is a word that pops into mind, as a label for someone who purposely messes with another's symbols. Immature at least and possibly a sign of mental illness. Many people rationalize, to support flawed behavior, another sign of immaturity.

To address another tack in this thread, Patton (paraphrase) "Your mission (duty) isn't to die for your country, but to make the other SOB die for his."

I disagree. Your subject mater has nothing to do with the Quaran, or Religion in general.

The video is dissrespectful of a certain religion and of a certain race of people. It has no place here and the Mods should have shut this thread down at the get go per GSequoia's ultimatum.

To be clear, I have no problem with people having a discussion about religion, their beliefs or lack of beliefs, as long as it is respectful and civil. It has only been in the last year or so that NAXJA even allowed discssion of Religion because it always ended in a flame war.

Not sure why you quoted me...I was remarking on Derrick's (besthaticouldo) post inw hich he first claims that religion is nothing but a bunch of lies but don't mess with that and disrespect it.

hahaha....i didn't mean any offense by it. but he took a shot at someones holy book, figured he wouldnt like it when someone did the same to his. granted its pretty much as i look at it...lol

but i dont usually get in religious arguements because people get so heated and cant have a calm conversation...
