Is it me or...?

John Stweart has a show because he has ratings that draw advertizing dollars into The Comedy Network. Those advertizers like his demographic draw. You won't see a depends or geritol commercial during his show, wrong audience. Anybody that puts any weight into what he's says about the election should rethink their priorities and commitment to our country. same as those who listen to Rush.

Wrong. Couldn't be further from the truth. The difference between Rush and Stewart is that Rush actually uses FACTS, and not sophmoric jokes. You're trying to compare apples to oranges. I'd LOVE to see Stewart debate Rush! :D

And what you said is exactly what bothers me so much. So many people DO base their entire political knowledge on people like John Stewart and shows like his.

I agree and on Rush also. I'm closer to the truth than you are willing to admit. They are BOTH entertainers, that is all. Neither will sway those that are open minded.

Have you ever listened to Rush? I mean yea, he's funny sometimes but his show's certainly not meant to be funny. Never the less, Rush presents arguments based on FACTS, and Stewart pokes fun based on fallacies for the most part.

Yes I have. I used to listen to him at lunch and then realized how much my brain was rotting. I relaized he was an entertainer, that's all. Entertainment doesn't necessarily have to be funny, think of some movies like Friday teh 13th, or the series 24, Funny= no, entertaining =yes.

I blame Rush for the sad state of affairs this country has fallen into. h ewas the 1st on the scene. His America Held Hostage BS during the Clinton years divided the country. President Reagan & Representative O'Neill used to toss a few back together at the end of the day after the good fight. Both sides of the aisle would gather at the same watering holes. No more, these paritisan jerks spew to toe party lines either Republican or Democrat and the sheeple that follow them are ruining the country.

It's a FACT the RNC spent too much money to outfit Governor Palin. No joke, although John Stewart and plenty of Americans see the humor in it. It was NOT a fact America was held hostage under Clinton.

I'm done. We deserve the government we get.

How much did your messiah spend on Greek columns for his nominee acceptance speech? Will they be recycled like Palin's clothes? Or where they a one-time-only expense? Quite a difference. That is a FACT. But you left do not wanna question "The Messiah's" spending... or even how he got the cash.

You're not gettin it. John Stewart is on COMEDY Central. Rush is on AM radio in most places. You tell me if they fit the same genre. Rush is 10x smarter than Stewart or Colbert.

So you're saying that Rush single handedly divided the country. Wow. I know Rush has a lotta clout, but to say that he single handedly divided the country??? To quote Joe Biden in a recent interview "Are you joking? Is this a joke?? Or is that a real question?" lol.

Some people don't mind paying taxes. I know I don't. Taxes provide the highways I can use to get to the trails, the police officers to keep the streets safe(r), firefighters, National Parks, etc.

Oh and my job!

I didn't say I don't think we should be taxed at all...I just like knowing my tax dollars are going to things that benefit ME, not the lazy a$$wipe who is too damn lazy to get a job and relies on the gov't to take care of his/her every need.

And as for paying our own salary....well, I just think that's ironic....or idiotic...not sure which.

Change is coming...it doesn't matter who the next President is.

Fixed.

It's real easy to say someone's a moron. How is he a moron? Lol, ESPECIALLY compared to Stewart.

so your asking me how he is a moron? how is rush 10x smarter? stop being a hypocrite.
stewart is worth watching. Rush..well, i wouldnt listen to that on a cross country drive if he was the on every station.

Rush is 10x smarter because he formulates arguments based on facts. Stewart doesn't bother worrying about whether or not his premises are even somewhat grounded in reality, rather, he just regurgitates the same liberal propoganda you hear everywhere else.

well, to each they're own. if stewart was an idiot, i dont think he would be where he's at today. his show reminds me of Saturday night live. funny sometimes. 90% of the time tho, its boring. i think they keep both shows around just for the election times.

Being funny has nothing to do with intelligence. You think Chris Farley was a smart guy?

Stewart reminds me of Obama...take away his teleprompter or script and he's nothing. Ever seen an interview with Stewart? He is a freakin idiot.

...,Rush is a moron. the sound of his voice makes me want to purposely rear-end the car in front of me
You know what? I can't stand to LISTEN to him either. Then again, I can't stand to listen to any kind of political punditry. Makes me want to do violent things to the electronics.
Try READING him. Any of his books, columns, or transcripts of his shows. I'm not a fan, and I've never listened to more then 2 minutes of his radio show, but I've read some of his work. He makes a lot of sense. Try it. It might change your opinion.

From what I've seen, JS and SC generally satirize what is being reported from "legitimate" news outlets as well as the candidates own mouths. They seem to point out the idiocy and hypocrisy of what is already out there more than they try to present their own arguments.
BTW, how may times has "friend of the show" John McCain been on w/Stewart? 10 - 15 I think?
If nothing else, Colbert has to have the biggest pair of balls on TV. Remember his speach @ the White House press dinner thing? Agree with him or not, that took some serious stones!

there is a commercial on the radio around here with John Mellencamp supporting Obama. I just laugh every time i hear it. Mellencamp is from the area about 30 miles away or so!

Actually, I think you're missing the point. Jon Stewart probably has as much political knowledge as Rush or anyone else, but he specifically chooses to be funny. He's a smart guy, it generally takes intelligence to actually be funny. I voted for Bush, will vote for McCain (although I still wish we had someone else running), don't listen to Rush because he's a blowhard, think Colbert and Stewart are hilarious, and can laugh at jokes poking fun at my religion, race, politics, or whatever, because funny is funny, to a point. It's hard to define where that line is, but most people would know it because poor taste is obvious. If you take yourself too seriously, life becomes very aggravating. Learn to roll with the punches, accept that not everyone will agree with you, and many will make fun of you, laugh it off, and come back with your own jokes, or walk away.
