Iron Scorpion Bumper Kit???

it's more like 55 pounds finished but close enough. most springs on lifts are a stiffer spring rate so it really doesn't make too much difference. if anything i may have lost 1/4 - 1/2 inch of my 4.5 inches or so but i don't even think i lost any?

well, now im getting pretty excited for this build and install...im hopeing tomorrow is warm enough that i can get into the start of it and get that little ?vaccuum ball? rerouted to a different location...

i rerouted mine to the engine bay over by the air filter and other junk. there are a few spots to put it in the engine bay. it doesn't require much room.

I am pulling this from memory, but I think the receiver bumper is 45 pounds or so. Maybe a bit more. I don't handle the shipping, so I may be a bit off. The winch version scaled in about 65 lbs, not including the winch of course. You will not see much of any change in lift with the receiver style bumper. I haven't looked at that issue with the winch version yet.

The vacuum ball is a resevoir for vacuum pressure. Like an air tank on a compressor. You can put it anywhere. Get some new line like Cornflake suggested. When I first relocated mine, the line was so brittle it shattered. I doubt it would have lasted long even if it held together long enough to get it rerouted.

UPS Tracking stated that the package is 42 pounds...had a feeling thats what the canister was for just not sure where the lines went to or how easily moved...but sounds simple enough!

Yup mine was the same, 42 lbs, and after adding welds it totalled 48. Another thing, It is much smaller profile than the stock bumper, so in a sense it kinda streamlines your front end. No loss on lift height here either. Stock springs.

Got the final prototype mounted today. The winch bumper with a older heavy Superwinch resulted in about a 1/2" drop on the nose of the XJ.

I think that the bumper comming off without the frame brackets is a good idea, thats the way i designed and hombuilt one. At the time i almost made them all one peice, and im glad i didn't. For one reason or another i have ended up taking off my bumper off and on at least 5 times in the last year, and it would have ben much more of a pain if i had to take the steering box off!

And i simply ziptied my vacume ball to the metal bracket that the overflow bottle sits on.

Well, I have about a total of ONE hour into the build and have everything welded up except the bottom of the bumper and the outer and inner d-ring tabs. I am going to be working on it again tonight when I get the chance. Once completely welded, my buddy is going to take it home for grinding, sanding, priming, paint, then will install this weekend along with possibly trimming fenders!!! Will post pics up once installed! So far has been an a fairly easy and awesome build for my first ever major project besides lift!

You shouldn't weld so much/so fast, real likely to warp on you!

That was one of those "foot in mouth" moments! What I meant was an hour total into welding...that wasn't including the time I sat around waiting for it to cool so I could weld some more. All in all I would say probably atleast 4 hours friday night between bending, fitting, tacking and an hour and a half last night finishing up the welds and putting on the d-ring tabs. I would say just in the initial box of steel to assembled it took roughly 6 hours.
